my uncle spent around 50K for his son's wedding (my cousin) they were divorced a year later LOL
I'm shocked at how many people I know who had huge weddings only to divorce soon after.

ChiefMac -I work in the Wedding industry and it’s unbelievable how much people will spend on one fucking day.
Not even really referring to the rich here, because it’s nothing to them. I mean the average income guys who spend out of their comfort zone.
It gets super awkward when customers ask you can they pay you after the wedding when they expect money to come in via gifts lol.
That gazeebo there tho does seem expensive. I know a company that hires them out and while I know they are really expensive and that’s a particularly good one..still way overpriced.
I've known of people getting marrid who tell you the minimum cash gift you must give if you plan on attending the wedding.

Me too.
I have a feeling there is a real correlation. A lof of women just want a wedding and to feel like a princess and all that crap. Getting married is the real goal for them. They don't necessarily care so much about WHO they marry and if they really should even be getting married, they just want to get to do all the wedding junk their friends do. It's really about them.
I bet if you looked at couples who had more frugal "do it yourself" type weddings, they tended to stay together more, because a wedding isn't really the goal.
Just a guess.
Trick is to not call it a wedding when making reservations.
Avoid the 'wedding tax'.

NO WHERE ON EARTH IS A RENTAL FOR THAT TEN 100 000 DOLLARS?
DO YOU ALL REALIZE HOW RETARDED YOU ARE?
NO WHERE
ChiefMac -At least these ppl are gonna use their tent for the reception...I shot a wedding in 2015 and they hired a massive tent which sat on the grounds of a hotel garden. About 30ft from a perfectly fine ball room. They used the tent ONLY for the 15minute civil ceremony.
Cost them thousands to hire that thing for 15 minutes. And they could have used the hotels facilities which they hired anyway for the reception. Made no sense at all. Even the woman who owned the gazeebo said it was so fucking weird.
The couple weren’t even rich. The girl was just a wannabe princess and had to have it lol
That seems to be the real issue around expensive weddings.
Wannabe princesses.

God above.
If someone told me there was a minimum cash gift to attend their stupid wedding I would take great joy in telling them that I would gladly stay home and wash my balls in bleach instead. Would not care if the minimum gift was a dollar. Arrogant wankers.
I spent 14k on our wedding 11 years ago in South Africa most of which was paying for myself, my wife and my mums flights, the honeymoon in Santorini and the rings.
The actual event itself we probably spent 5 or 6 k on
Slydawg -The flowers alone cost 25k at our weddings.
Def money well spent

Aldo the apache -Severnsmustache -I asked my mom what she was going to spend on my wedding. She told me the amount I said great, I'll take a check.
took my wife and eloped. Used the wedding $ from my mom for a down payment on one of my first good investments. I've rolled that $ 5 times now and turned it into 35x what the original check was for.
So your mom gave you money for a specific purpose and you were like ‘fuck you ma I’ll spend it on other shit lol’
she wanted to see you guys walk down the aisle you ungrateful bastard
Have to agree. A+ on the financial play. F on the son play. Watching you walk the aisle is priceless for a mom.
ChiefMac -If you live together get a cohabitation agreement or the courts may treat it like you were married regardless of what you think.^^ this is why I am unmarried yet have been with my GF for a decade. Fuck marriage. I do not see the point at all. I have shot about 200 weddings, to think that half of those will break up is scary. I know some of them already have. Within 4 years of getting married.
one wedding I did, the bridesmaids wee trying to persuade the bride not to go through with I unless she was 1000%.....this was at the door of the church about to head in lol. They got married and got divorced within a year. Well there’s a waste of money.

why would the catering manager lie to me about it?
I looked up the company that rented the tent but they do not list prices on their website. The bill is going to the member not us so I will most likely never see it, but if by chance I get a hold of it i will post it.
Sounds like a tax dodge to me, you can hire the great hall at Alexandra palace for £25k

My jackass brother did that while me and the wife had a small backyard ceremony and currently own several houses in southern CA in addition to having a pretty decent portfolio
Slydawg -My first thought was it must be a Chaldean wedding but we only have weddings on Sundays. And in your area they are at the same three places usually.
Slydawg I have a question for you about chaldeans.I live in Fremont,Ça the bay area, well fremont has one of the highest concentration of North&South Indians and middle easterns aswell,my wife is middle eastern,I'm latin, not traditional I know,as you have posted chaldean women are always dressed to the nines so are the Afghan women and northern indian women, not so much southern indian they're pretty casual.I love middle eastern women thats why I married one,but my question is about what makes someone chaldean is it being from a certain region? The people I have asked gave me iffy or the didn't really know plus I don't want my wife thinking I'm searching for a chaldean.I have never heard the term since you've mentioned it a few times,I see alot of similarities in terms of always looking their best but I know there's more to the background than that.

Damn passive jay really pissed some people off,I think your alright PJ. I do agree 100k is stupid high but was it a late addition?did you guys have to have it shipped over timely, paying extra workers to setup up and takedown and many other factors,it is a nice glass looking paneled tent but holy shit 100k could've got you a conference room in the four seasons! PJ has no reason to lie he's just relaying the message but I see your point, what would be your guess on the cost
outside of a wedding, when else do you take up to 500 people out for a $50 - $200/ a plate dinner, pay for their drinks, and hire a band to entertain them. the idea is just fucking ridiculous.

Chaldeans are a separate race. They have their own language which I believe is older than Arabic. They Chaldean language is almost true Aramaic (Christ spoke Aramaic). They all speak Arabic as well because over time in Iraq Arabs took over. There are a few Chaldean groups. I have lived in Chaldo world for a long time. I was not very welcomed at first, but it's been great overall. In Iraq it is a treasure to land a Chaldean woman. The staple of being Chaldean is Catholic Christian. I had to convert to Catholic to marry my wife.

I thought you grew up Catholic?
