It could be awesome if they tried...
Nah. Nintendo is weird. It wouldn't cater to the fans over here. Something would get f'd in translation.
Nahh..
Link would look like such a fruit cake, and
Link never talks.
It would be awkward and weird.
It would be like baseball, it's more fun to do than it is to watch.
Video game movies are about 1 for 6,000 at this point, so the odds would be starkly against it

This.
And the ones that still end up being enjoyable really have fuck all to do with the game save the name & a very loose idea.
They already did!
This is the problem with video game movies.... video games are already superior forms of entertainment because you actually get to control the character and the outcome is based on your actions. Making that into a movie is sort of a step back because you are just passively watching a story being told. This can work in some instances, but if you look at the history of video game movies, about 98% of the suck balls, with 1% being mediocr and another 1% being sweet.
I feel like Zelda in particular would translate poorly to motion picture unless someone had an amazing idea for how to pull it off.

What is the best video game movie?
Silent Hill was good. I'd give it about a 7 out of 10. Then what? Mortal Kombat 1 at 6 out of 10?

Damn, that's a good question.
I propose that we change this thread topic to "what is the best video game movie" instead.
Let me think about it for a couple minutes and I shall post my thoughts.
Ok, I looked up some lists of video game movies really quick. My automatic first choice would be KIng of Kong: A fistfull of quarters the documentary. I don't know if that counts, though.
Its about a video game, but not really a fictional movie based on the fantasy of the actual game.
