Things overlooked in Diaz vs. GSP

Jake Shields gave GSP way more trouble on the feet than he should've.

Condit gave GSP trouble from the bottom whereas in the moments where Diaz had Condit on the ground, he looked pretty dominant.

For the GSP fans who think this is some kind of cake walk, GSP hasn't fought this kind of fighter who has great striking, a great ground game, and 2 inchheight advantage combined.....you may be in for a surprise.

You're spot on. Nick's guard is nothing to shake a stick at. Danaher's quotes before the Shield's fight "there are black belts and then there are black belts" would apply just as much if not more to Nick as it did to Jake. If GSP is as reluctant to go to the ground as he was with Jake, Nick will be in his comfort zone throughout.

GSP didn't want to go to the ground with shields and give him a chance . GSP had the knockdown, maybe more than 1 can't remember. When shields raked GSP it made him gun shy. Overall a poor performance from both.

Condit is one of the most well rounded fighters in the division. I wasn't surprised at the fight he gave GSP. You have to also factor in the year 1/2 layoff. Still a spectacular performance from GSP

Diaz is now coming in on a year layoff. He's never fought anybody near the athlete GSP is. He's got a great ground game but we've never seen him submit anyone of note off his back. He's got good boxing but how's he going to deal with the technical striking of GSP? I know people like to say Condit ran but the truth is he was out struck. He might have minimal success but I fully expect for GSP to thoroughly dominate diaz. We're dealing with the greatest WW of all-time here Phone Post

"For the GSP fans who think this is some kind of cake walk, GSP hasn't fought this kind of fighter who has great striking, a great ground game, and 2 inchheight advantage combined.....you may be in for a surprise."

Doesn't that perfectly describe Carlos Condit, except Condit also has better footwork and more power than Nick?

"If GSP is as reluctant to go to the ground as he was with Jake, Nick will be in his comfort zone throughout."

He was reluctant to go to the ground with Jake because that was literally Jake's only chance to win the fight. Nick's best chance of winning, by far, is on the feet. So GSP will take it to the ground (unless he is tooling Nick standing maybe).

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. Not saying both guys' bouts with Condit are any precise indicator of what to expect, but I do see happenings in the the 3 aforementioned bouts being worth some solid consideration.

Condit is a better striker than Diaz Phone Post

Lol @ Gsp striking to technical for Daiz. Gsp stand up = superman punch, jab, jab, spinning back kick.. I love gsp but the only way he wins is sticking to his game plan which 25 minutes of holding Nick down. Daiz is 2x better than shields in every aspect of the game minus wrestling and gsp had a very hard time with that fight. Either guy can win but Nick wins in exciting fashion if gsp wins is a snooze fest imo. No disrespect intended Phone Post

Gsp was thoroughly out striking Jake up until the eye poke. Phone Post

Did you watch that fight. It was Embarrasing watching jake up until the poke. He was getting schooled. Phone Post

I won't be surprised to see the Condit gameplan executed by GSP against Diaz.

I don't think he will risk going to the ground against Nick based on his history. Phone Post

The point was Jakes stand up sucks and gsp did no real damage before or after the eye poke. Did you read the rest of my post lol. Nick is gonna ruin gsp's pretty face lol Phone Post

Diaz frustration will make him angry. His anger will make him loud and taunty. His loudness and tauntiness will make Georges upset in front of the home town. Georges upsettedness will make him commit a rare mental mistake the likes of which we have not seen since he threw that brick into the lake.

Georges has never fought anyone who has openly taunted and screamed at him during a fight the way Diaz will. Georges has a lot of pride, and it will play a part before the 5 rounds is up.

This is what I dreamed, and in my dream I won a lot of money. Now I must follow my dreams! I will be at the fight living the dream, and we will see if dreams do come true.

Gsp who stood with condit was WAY better than THE gsp who stood with shields.

Nick is better than condit on ground andnthat makes this exciting too Phone Post

Nick is going to suprise a lot of people. Maybe he won't  win, but i think a lot of people are just writing him off like he doesn't even belong in the cage with George, which is ridiculous. I've always thought Nick has one of the best and most active guards in MMA. I can't recall a time when Nick has been smashed by a guy on top, besides his early loss to Jermeny Jackson when he was a kid, which was from a knockdown. And even then he still didn't go out, which was amazing from the punishment he took. Every time Nick Diaz is put on his back, it's one of the most exciting grappling matches you've ever seen.

I really don't think this fight is going to look like Benson vs Nate. If anything, i have a feeling George will keep the fight mainly of the feet and try to outstrike Nick with jabs and movement. Hopefully Nick has learned from the Condit fight and can cut off Gsp. I'm sure Gsp will throw in takedowns at the end of rounds, and we'll see some good grappling exhanges.

I Don't usally write so much but im ripped and can't wait for the fight. So that's what i think.

Let's go NICK!

runster - all these threads where nick diaz fans try to convince themselfs that he has a chance.

funny

This. Won't be nothing but a lot of whining on march 17th about how GSP didn't "fight". He's gonna outclass Diaz in e wry area possible Phone Post

Nick Diaz is my favorite active fighter. That being said, my biggest concern about this fight is that it'll be his first in over a year. Fighting GSP in ANY condition is a tall order but  especially after a long lay off. We've all seen what that can do to a fighter. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he pulls this one out tho.

ohhhhh I don't know....

lol @ this garbage.

That's one thing I'll give the Diaz fangirls; They are persistant in their delusion. "If we say it often and loud enough, it'll be true!"

Nick Diaz has never fought anyone on the level of GSP. Period.

When was the last time Nick won a fight in the big show at 170lbs again???

I'll help you out; He fought and beat BJ who had a losing record at 170lbs in 2011 and before that....2006 lol...and some of you morons think he deserves and is capable of a title shot.

Delusional talk = first sign of fear.
