I thought he had a successful roofing business and a hunting show? Why doesn't he have insurance? Not saying that he should have to pay for it, just wondering why he doesn't have insurance.
If the UFC actually said its not their problem that's pretty messed up.
Six years ago I lived across the street from a guy who was a former MLB pitcher. He had retired almost 20 years earlier. MLB paid for his liver transplant. The guy was a complete douche who partied like there was no tomorrow, and his liver got destroyed as a result, but still MLB covered the surgery that cost around $250K about 20 years later.
UFC: The opposite of major league when it comes to how they treat guys who once fought for them, even their former champs.
Does Dana still post here ever? You're a fucking joke egg. Give this man 10k to have a healthy arm. He put his life on the line numerous times for your bank account.
Fans are ridiculous about what the UFC should pay their fighters, what the UFC owes their fighters, what the UFC should....
Get insurance. Get it taken care of like anyone else would.
Dana White has many layers to him.
This one being one of the shittiest.
Giant piece of shit move.
UFC should probably pay. This is very clearly an injury from his time there. No gray area there. but also, Tim Sylvia is a grown man who should have health insurance.
also, mma is not like MLB. If you make the majors and play for a few years and take care of your money, there is a good chance that you can be close to set for life. That is not the case in MMA. Only very few fighters at the top can expect this sort of reality.
Would standard health coverage cover this? Its Its clearly a workers comp issue.
They should pay.
But you guys realize when it says "the ufc says it's not their problem," that's not Dana. That would be legal representatives of the company.
Sorry to ruin the Dana hate...Ill show myself out.
maybe contact the place that did the surgery. oh how we all could benefit from universal Healthcare. too bad Bernie got fuvkrd over again.
Griffithberserk209 -They should pay.

It is Dana when it’s public and Tim is still suffering. I will reserve judgment for now.
MarsMan -...The ufc says it’s not there problem and will not cover it.
Now that's fucked up.
You're right, it should be "their".
...I'll show myself out.
I think a good number of athletes don't have a clue how to manage money during their time in the sport or how make money after their glory days are over. ESPN 30 for 30 had an episode on this. Used to date a former pro athlete. She didn't have a clue how to manage money. Her credit rating was shot. Owed the IRS money, had houses repoed by the banks. Then she wants me to blow my retirement on toys and gifts for her. Cut her lose soon after.
UFC should pay. He's a former champion, had his arm broken for Dana's profit. Fork up the 10G's , jesus christ.
Looks like something that could be fixed with a phillips screwdriver and some Loctite.
If it was just normal wear and tear from someone getting old I would tell Tim to take a hike but this seems like a specific injury that happened while he was on the clock for the UFC. If they can drop all that cash for Fight Island surely they can help Tim out. I don't even like Tim.
I had reconstructive surgery on my collar bone from a break when I was a teenager (skateboarding). Screws started coming out 10 years later. I went through a few months of PT to see if it would stop, it wouldn't, so then I had surgery. I had insurance and paid about $200 out of pocket.
Be an adult, Tim, get insurance.
They’ve always been psycho about the paying for athlete surgery stuff. As cheap as this repair is they probably don’t pay for anything for anyone not under contract anymore becaue it could set a precedent, I dunno. But there have been plenty of fighters going public about ufc not helping with surgeries. Mayhem just brought it up tim his recent interview with Ariel. Cost him like 200k to fix his own knee. I think al iaquinta said he fixed his own knee too recently
In most civilized countries this would be fixed for free, parking at the hospital would be his biggest outlay.

It kinda is thier problem if the initial operation has led to this.
