tonight jens lost to a fighter that he should have, in the very least, lasted until the second or third round.
early in the fight jens got frustrated with garcia's gameplan. at one point he paused, stepped back, and looked very discouraged. the look on his face spoke a thousand words. i've only seen one other fighter do this mannerism before...
evan tanner did the exact same thing in the yushin okami fight. it is the look of a man who knows his mind is there but his body is not. his timing is off, his body is just not responding how it should be. it's a sad thing to watch.
is jens pulver genuinely over the hill?
or is he simply in a slump?
thoughts?

jens looked a little like ken shamrock tonight.
Jens has been in some incredibly brutal, life-shortening wars over the years. Watching his fight with Bozo Palling gave ME a concussion, LOL.
He's thrown and taken a lot of hard punches, but it seems like the latter is starting to catch up with the former now. Sometimes guys just seem to get wired to fall down a little more easily after a certain amount of strikes.
Honestly, I'm amazed that Pulver has fought at the highest level for so long; there aren't many active MMA fighters who have fought opponents like BJ, Gomi, Uno, Mach, Faber, Bang, and Din at least one weightclass above where they should be. Sakuraba is one of the only others who comes to mind, and I think most people would agree that he shouldn't be in there with guys like Manhoef anymore.
Why stick around until you end up like Freddie Roach? Transition to a new phase of life while most of the braincells are still intact IMO. Jens was already UFC champion, that's something very few people can say.
Too many wars.

Wow i see people talk shit about fighters all the time but now green names talking shit tells me you are definetly not a real fighter. Thats Weak man
I'd like to see him do another fight. He's a light guy, maybe take 135lb fight. either way I think he'd make a good commentator and hope he has an active role in the sport in some aspect.

Sifu Sutton is "as real as it gets," my friend. I definitely wouldn't put Pulver on the same level as Ken (especially since his losses don't appear to be connected to a period of haevy drug abuse), but he definitely looked like a fighter in decline from his best days.
OliverTWIST, Brown and Pulver being the same age doesn't mean anything. Brown has never been TKOed, Pulver has suffered six losses that way now. Brown doesn't typically stand and trade punches, and Pulver did so much more often (especially after his run as UFC champion was over).
Ken Shamrock is less than a year older than Bernard Hopkins, but only one has any in-ring relevance to his sport left.
Jen's took a good left hook early when Garcia was still fresh, maybe even hitting him sqaure on the eyeball
Most 145ers would get rocked
Jens has more fights in him, maybe Maeda is next for him
The fight shouldn't have been stopped.
seemed like he didnt give garcias striking any respect
Was that fight even on the telecast?
I only got a one-hour show.
He didn't respect Garcia's power. He stopped boxing and started just trying to hit him. Obviously this was not a smart thing to do in hindsight. Having said that. I've felt Jens was kinda past it ever since Lauzon beat him so easily.
He used to be a good sized 155'er and now he's a small 145'er. Life is different without the 'roids.
Robin.
