How many UFC fighters have ever received $1 million for a single fight? Not many.
I've actually heard of some of these PFL guys, but in my wildest dreams I'd never imagine that any one of them would ever fight for $1 million.
Hopefully the NY athletic commission is on the ball and making sure the checks are in hand before the card starts. I'd hate to see a repeat of the bare knuckle happy horseshit where the fighters got IOU's and the winners' cars were repo'd before they ever saw them.
It seemed like nobody was watching and none of these guys are stars. The event threads on here were sad.
I can’t imagine giving these guys a million dollars, but it’s not my problem.
UFC contacts winners of PFL tournament:
"We liked what we saw. We want to sign you to an 8-fight deal. We can start you at 20/20, plus sweeeet Reebok chedda."
"Uh, dude, I just won a million bucks."
"Okay, we'll make it a 10-fight deal."
"Cool! I'm there, man!"
Three Magomeds on 1 card. The Dagastan goat brothels are going to be jumping in 2019.
I got all Magomedovs
I know ray cooper iii has adamantium hands....
haha you guys are too funny.
this is all being done through NBC sports they have been around for a bit you may have heard of them they are part of a network called NBC ?
they have broadcast deals world wide with commercials and advertising deals in every single county on the planet. so this tourney is being repackaged and sold in every country they so deals in. and from Uganda to the most blown out hole in Uzbekistan they know what cage fighting is and will watch it.
and i am stoked for the fighters i have watched every event and got to go when they were in long beach. glad these guys are getting a well earned payday. honestly if i was a fighter in another org i would be looking hard at this event for the next opening to jump into the tourney.
Yeah id have to imagine lots of ufc and bells for guys will line up to PFL next season if the payouts are real…i just have a real hard time believing these guys are paying out a million per champ…
How much did these guys get paid to fight through the mini season?surely they get paid a small salary of sorts…
But overall, it’s hard to really get behind an org where it’s best fighters couldn’t make it in UFC…Vinny Magalhaes for example, he has ran through his competition in PFL yet he couldn’t survive in the UFC
While I am glad that they are potentially getting PAID. Making it a "million dollar tournament" doesn't make me want to watch unknowns and lesser knowns fight anymore than if it were for some random belt or anything else.
The best thing about PFL is Caroline Pearce.
Love it.
NBCSN NYE 7pm-11est.
Great tournament so far.
Ray is a beast, so is Taylor.
Rooting for Huggybear, Kayla should dominate.
10 million dollar MMA nights are hard to pass up.

Lol.
good way to go bankrupt.

not true. someone has been blowing smoke up your ass.
nbc provides a small production subsidy and marketing value (not actual hard dollar spend)… no license fee. nbc is not paying the fighters.
please name the international broadcast deals because best I know they have a deal in bulgaria and that’s it.
They raised some money so they have the cash to pay the fighters but once that capital runs out they are done.
theres a chance they may be able to secure another round of funding but if they don’t theyre gone.

I was going to say something about that but I was too lazy.
They have a tenuous deal with NBC at best. Other than the day-of replays they have zero replays of any of their content and none of it is available on on-demand which is something they offer for other content they broadcast.
NBC is definitely not in bed with the PFL.
the talk is PFL will be on ESPN+ next year… NBC has matching rights tho. It’s a pretty minor deal from ESPN+. Not enough to cover the salaries so they’ll need to raise more money to guarantee they can operate through the end of next year. PFL is a disaster. it sucks because investors are gonna be so turned off MMA. Meanwhile it’s not MMA’s fault… it’s shitty leadership.

“PFL is a disaster”
How did they expect to do well? They started out paying huge purses while not even having ppv or big name fighters to draw viewers…I can’t imagine too many casuals tuning in to watch their events…did they even draw bellator like numbers?
Will be interesting if this season goes through and everyone gets paid, will bigger name bellater/UFC guys try their hand at the million dollar purse?
