I would start a youtube channel. On it, I would test all sorts of things aquarium related. First and foremost, compare all sorts of differnet biological media. Not do what all these other dipshits do, and fucking talk about the different kinds, but TEST that shit. Use X amount of one media, and X amount of another media, and she which can handle a bigger bioload, which can get the bacteria ramped up and cycled quicker, etc.
Then test different types of aquarium pumps. How each one does with no head, with X amount of head, Y amount of head, etc. Test their different watt usages as all these different levels to determine the most energy efficient per unit of output.
TONS of stuff can be tested. LEDs, premade filters, DIY filters, different substrates, among so much more crap.
Keep each one just 4 or 5 minutes long generally - just establish the paramaters, have some time-elapsed footage, show the results.
Thoughts? Wouldn't that get a good number of viewers? And testing all this stuff would also be interesting to me!
Hmmm, not the groundswell of support I was hoping for... I think if you guys were in "the hobby" (raising and breeding fish like me), yall would be more interested. Aquarium guys, if they read that, would be like "god DAMN we have needed this kind of stuff tested for YEARS!!!!"...
Yeah but you have costs... It might be something fun to do but making a "business" out of it seems useless other than writing off your new fish toys.
Thanks Cuckold. Am I wrong in thinking that people with big youtube channels make a lot of money via those channels? Obviously if no one came to my channel, no money coudl be made. But if people actually found the reviews helpful, and I think they will, I think they would be visited time and time again.
It has potential but I don't think the viewership would support the cost of equipment to review. Not saying it can't be done but starting it as a business seems a lot more risky than transitioning it from a hobby into a profit center. Like the guy who sold you weed in high school, he isn't getting rich but he's supporting his own habit and always has weed

Thanks Cuckold. Even if I didn't make money, if it helped offset the cost of all the cool stuff I'd get to try and expiranemtn with, it would probably be worth it. But surely some youtubers are makeing real money?!?!
I would think that there are people that know what the fuck they are talking about already doing this
(i) I know what I am talking about
(ii) There is NOT
What I am talking about is vigrious testing and reporting the results. Don't think I've ever seen that on youtube. There are lots of DIY project things, lots of "here are the different bio-media" things, but NOTHING that tests the actual usage of bio-media in your tanks versus one another to see which one is superior. That kind of testing takes weeks, even months - not something easy to do.
