Tired of fighter bashing. Its everywhere.

Fighter bashing is out of control. And it's become direct to fighters on their twitter, Facebook, and boards such as these. I'm not saying to not voice your opinion, but seeing twitter accounts like the Ben askeren one is ridiculous. People are just insulting the guy, we are lucky to be fans of a sport where the athletes are this accessible, you don't have to dangle off their nuts but be respectful. Phone Post

Some fighters get flack for various unfair trolling reasons

Askren openly has spite for anyone who doesn't think he's the best.

If you go tell fans to watch boxing cause its impossible to find you boring then expect people to be all over you for it.

You cant control twitter idiot. Whats next taking down streams? Phone Post

I was 3 years sober, and then took a drink last night because of fighter bashing. Phone Post

Seeing it here, mma.tv, and reporting it to a mod is possible.

Crying over Ben Askren's twitter? As hilarious as that sounds, wait... never mind. That shit is fucking funny.

I think that unsolicited fighter bashing on a moderated forum such as here is inappropriate and needs to be controlled, within reason.

But its part and parcel of social media. If fighters want to utilize twitter and facebook to put themselves out there, benefit from the connection with fans and the enhancement to their popularity it brings, then they accept the downsides that come with it. No empathy here. Especially for folks like Askren who use it agitate others.

Some people hate the Lakers... or the Knicks.. it's no different in MMA.

Fighters should be happy someone gives a sh*t either way.

If you feel someone is fighter bashing here on the UG you can use the vote up/vote down button.. Kirik checks the stats almost everyday..

You can also PM any moderator with a link to the thread/post in question...

On another note:
Myself and a few other mods put on our Sprawl shorts and UFC mma gloves and went over to Twitter and tried to moderate... but, but, but, they just kinda laughed at us and sent us back here....
=)

ODW

It's called being a "Public Figure"....it comes with the territory...get over it.

sand in your pussy?

Here, yes fighter bashing needs to be squashed.  On twitter who gives a fuck, and even if you do give a fuck how do you possibly expect to stop assholes from being assholes?

Big fucking deal.  You look at any other sport like football or boxing and it's the same. People dislike certain players/fighters in each sport and and are going to express that.  Besides, it's more fun to have fighters in MMA that you don't like.  It makes the matches with them much more exciting to watch instead of having a man crush on every fighter that steps into the cage.

Yet your screen name is Josh Krosscheck. Phone Post

I've been following MMA on the boards for 10 years now. Fighter Bashing is no worse or better than it ever was. You obviously have sand in your vagina, pour your self a drink, kick back and see the funny side of it or don't come on forums, of any kind.

Seriously don't be such a bitch and grow a pair. It's all water off a ducks back. i prefer not to imagine all these great fighters crying into their pillows at night cause of fighter bashing

Not too many men who actually fight or have fought are gonna be bashing, because they know how thin the line is between being the man and being yesterday's news. Therefore you have to understand that all those "bashers" are just keyboard warriors who can't do what they do. They're just haters, and the more you have the better you're doin. Like Kat Williams said, "if I got 20 haters gimmie 40 haters...cuz that mean I'm doin somethin right!!!". Phone Post

It's why I rarely login anymore.

Look at this tough guy, he badmouthed a fighter over the Internet, hee hee hee.

There was the video of Rashad being handed a pic of him being knocked out for an autograph and half the shitheads on here said 'ha ha, he should have signed it!'

No, he should have been allowed to beat the shit out of the fucking troll that passed it to him to sign with impunity.

If fighters either got the respect they deserved or could beat it out of these little dipshits that pulled stunts like that, there would be a lot less fighter bashing.

Sticks and stones, assholes.

I can't believe how many posters just say " you have sand in your vagina ". These guys are the hardest working athletes in the world and put their health on the line. Not too much to ask for the fans to be a little respectful.
I don't say every Toronto maple leaf is a fag and a loser and on and on just because I hate the maple leafs.
And holy shit to the guy that thinks my screen name is fighter bashing, it is what my kid thinks koscheck's name is. Phone Post

Wrestling fan?
Askren and Kos?

I agree...but to a point. When you put yourself on twitter to promote yourself then you have to accept the bad with the good. Especially when you say some of the crap he did. Challenging a reporter to a fight is not going to win you many fans.
