Good eye man I didn't even catch it. A lot of guys probably thought you were saying it was a fight changer.
It's crazy how some guys can get away with almost anything and then other barely touch the cage and the ref is all over them.
boxing wiz -Where is he from?MrBobGray - Stfu... SAC TOWN STAND UP!!!
He may have moved there to train, but that is from and was raised up in tbe hills. I guess we can all share. Its awesome to see him do so good. He is a solid dude who has busted his ass to be the best. Barao is gone. Now what?

Known him since we were 11.
So stoked for him and his family. Awesome people.
It definitely held him on the fence, and others are saying he grabbed his shorts. I think TJ had him either way, but it's not like his game plan wasn't to make Barao work. Renan caught TJ plenty back, so who knows what would have happened if it had been curbed from the get go. It's illegal, and Pride had an answer more than a decade ago. But it was funny watching some guys completely hook arms through and pretend to think it was ok while a team of Japanese guys tried to slap and peel their hands. Lol.
WifesPowerTop - What channel was the Barak fight on? I was watching the ufc card and missed it. I fucking LOVE watching Barak fight. Def one of the goats.
Yeh good ol Adnan Barak, loved it when he beat Urihaq al-Fabeh twice

Calavares is a crazy little county. Back around 1991 when I was living in Sonora, a group of us went over to Vallecito to this makeshift little supposed dance club place. We end up talking shit with a group of guys from Bret Harte. I remeber some redneck named Carl, and big goofy guy named Mike and this black guy named Vernon. Everyone ends up fighting and I end up fight the black guy. We end up on the ground with me on top, I throw a couple punches and others jumped in. Well when the black guy stood up he got coldcocked and knocked out. When he came too, this guy from Sonora(who wasn't in the fight) is driving out with his girlfriend. The black grabs a shovel from the side of the building and crushes the windshield of the guys car. He thought it was who hit him. The only person who got hurt was this big gfr from Bret Harte named Brian. He got in a fight later downtown a d broke his leg.
Well some years go by and I'm watching the UFC on ppv. Ian Freeman is fighting, and here comes this black guy who is his opponent. I recognized the guy right away but it took me a second to put it together. It was Vernon White. He lived up there for awhile. Jake Shields is also from there, being from Mountain Ranch and going to Calavares high.
Thats three pretty big names from basically the middle of nowhere in the foothills. It's pretty cool that they have ties to a little town hidden up in the foothills.

Yeah a guy I knew growing up fought Jake shields in high school and got beat up lol. There is another kid named Ricky Gonzalez that grew up here and is looking pretty good. Wouldn't be surprised to see him do big things eventually either.

Jake's brother Clement is a tough dude too. I have heard from some guys that he is tougher than Jake, but just wouldn't dedicate himself.

There was an incredible amount of fence grabbing, but I didn't think it made a difference or that he even used it to his advantage - didn't trap Barao with it, didn't use it for leverage, etc. I am a big Herb fan, but he missed the vast majority of instances.
boxing wiz -Yeah same guy. He shouldn't have taken that fight. The guy he fought against weighed in like 10 lbs over. He also fights at where he pretty much walks around at. He just beat a TAM guy last weekend in merced. He's getting pretty good.zackthewop -boxing wiz -That's awesome. Do you know his dad? Man I've known them since I was like 8.
And yeah I heard Jakes brother was super good at grappling.
This thread has taken a weird turn, makes me long for the days of Towe and Wolfman.

Yeah I know his dad. Ricky actually was winning the fight he lost but got screwed by the ref. He had the guy down, but when they stood back up he was in trouble. He is a decent fighter and getting better too. Like I said earlier, thar group of kids are tough. Little Anthony Howard can fight too. Sonora kids are coming up. Professor Bill is doing a great job. I admire how he teaches the kids. He is a pretty good guy who doesn't have any attitude or tough guy ego, and he passes that to the kids in his teaching.

Thanks ninja. I don't think TJ would have lost either way. This started out as a suggestion to improve the fights and take away some of the smaller infractions. I should have known the UG would just boil down to "I didn't read your post, but you are wrong due to your join date". There are still plenty of solid posters that make me love this place.
If it's ok to use the fence to push off from to gain better position on the ground, use to crawl up with your back to get back standing, or to push guys up against to clinch and stall fights, why is it wrong to grab to stop takedowns? Not being a smart ass just an honest question.
