TKD 'walking' stance

Does anyone understand this one? what is the history behind it because it seems to contradict everything that virtually ever other TMS teaches about stances (feet very close together, legs locked straight weight up high etc). It seems to me to be a stance which is deliberately difficult to generate any power or stbility from to try and force you to use the rest of your body but I'm not sure, all I know is it feels damn funny when I'm using it.....

It's fairly mobile and allows you to kick relatively quickly. Also, it's a fairly natural position - one that doesn't look like you're preparing to fight.

I have always thought it was a bad idea to teach that stance, since most people don't get in a deep enough stance anyway.
