TMJ

Do any of you guys have it? I have grinded my teeth in my sleep my entire life. A few months ago I started to get TMJ. My jaw doesn’t lock but I feel like me cheek muscles are always fatigued, it’s maddening.

I am dealing with it, haven’t been officially diagnosed. Good luck with that. Your docs will usually swear it’s something else before they admit it’s TMJ. Every time I open my jaw my ears pop, constant ringing in my ears. It sucks.

My son had that ... got bad enough that he could only open his jaw half-way. It altered his speech a bit too since his jaw wasn’t opening freely. The only solution was to have surgery and then 3 weeks of rehab after.

Get a mouth piece.   I've had it for years.  It's just stress.  As things go, it's not the worst way to deal with stress.

Yes, I had my teeth shaved down to level them out. But it didn't help that much, I found it was chronic tension that ran down my neck and trap. Working that has helped

I use these and they are amazing. About a $1 a piece and last up to a week. No boil and bite either.

I also use them during the day if I’m stressed.

Ive been a chronic sufferer of too much jackoff since i was 13.

You and I are in the same boat.

I take a muscle relaxer at night. It helps. The ringing is at a manageable level but when I get stressed, it gets louder.

Ive tried about everything to get rid of it including getting 75 shots in my face in one sitting. Ringing went away for about 20 minutes and then came back. I did that twice and it just isnt worth the pain for the payoff but the pain guy did say its definitely caused by TMJ. If you can open your mouth and stretch it out and the ringing tone changes, its TMJ.

Cortisteroids help a little but once the anti inflamation of them wears off, the ringing comes back.

^^^ ive been with an ENT for 6 months now. We put tubes in my ears, the dizziness went away for a little bit, then came back. we thought it was a eustachian tube issue but the tubes didn’t solve shit.

The popping hasn’t stopped. The slight dizziness causes me anxiety and makes me think weird shit is happening to me when it’s not.  Luckily its not debilitating but it is serious and constant anxiety. I might try the mouth guard but I know im going to hate it.

I had it for about a year, I was eating advil every day. It was from stress. As I got better, it got better. Been about 25 years since.

Personally, I think yall are wasting time with doctors, and possibly being harmed in some cases. If the mouthguard helps, that’s cool as a stop-gap measure, but you really need to find and disarm the stress. Yoga, meditation, exercise, prayer, Id try all that stuff with a lot of effort and consistency.

My wife is an Orofacial Myologist. Go see a good one in your area that has TMJ experience. It can be life changing for those suffering.

My wife had it for a while. IIRC, insurance wouldn’t cover the specialist. She found some thing on Instagram that showed how to massage your jaw and it worked for her.

I grind my teeth and have filed them down pretty good. My dentist fitted me for a night gaurd and it's helped a lot no more grinding.
