He faked a punch and threw a backfist. Stupid photobucket resized it and made it tiny.
TTT - fixed it!
Stop with the lies, guys.
Yes, the spinning backfist got a knockdown.
No, Pequeno was not out from it.
Watch how he falls and holds his head when you actually see the fight.
It was a draw through two rounds that probably would have gone Pequeno's way if it had not been a draw. Then, in the beginning of the third round, Tokoro came out and landed the spinning backfist, then followed with two or three punches to a stunned, covering Nogueira. Stunned, yes, but out, no.
Japaneses ensured again win..in the same way than Jani Lax fight
Lies? Come on, man. That's not cool.
Pequeno wasn't winning the fight. He had the takedowns, but submission attempts were equal and Tokoro rocked him standing and landed some great strikes.
That stoppage was no faster than ANY you see in the UFC. He was hurt.
Stephen Martinez, Sherdog.com:
"The fight went to the judge's decision but all judges scored it a draw so an extra round was needed. As the bell rang to open overtime, Tokoro charged with a spinning back fist that landed right on Nogueira's chin and the Brazilian went down. Tokoro followed with ground punches for the referee stop.
Now, out of this fight two things struck me. First I didn't see the need for the extra-round since Tokoro clearly won both the first and second rounds. The other thing is at the moment of the referee stop "Pequeno" still looked in the fight."
The fight was very even. Nog wasn't winning, but he sure wasn't losing either. And that stoppage was very quick. That gif may not show it, but it was very quick.
"That stoppage was no faster than ANY you see in the UFC. He was hurt."
Bullshit. Karo vs Serra
I couldn't tell if it was the backfist or the punch that came behind it.
That was sweet though!!

Scroll to the bottom and click "free", then the download link shoud appear at the bottom after the countdown ends.
This is the ending to the fight and it's approximately 7 MB in size. I couldn't rip and stitch it properly so the first replay is missing the backfist connecting but the GnP portion is there in real-time and 2x in slow motion.
it was a good stoppage.
see for yourselves.
the spinning punch landed like a hammerfist right on the jaw, and was followed by GnP.

goku... i normally agree with your posts... but....
kid v. schaffa was not an early stop.
kid would have stomped the hell out of schaffa. kid was doing backflips and schaffa was still on his back on the canvas...
anyway, it looks like schaffa was tapping out.
Eh, that was an early stoppage, as in the ref ran over too damn quick, but at the same time, Nog wasn't trying to re-establish a guard and didn't seem to be complaining.
That all being said, I can't believe those first rounds were considered a draw. Maybe it was working off Rings style Judging, where the judges would vote draw just to see another round of a good fight.
It wasn't that close.
"Bullshit. Karo vs Serra"
What the hell? Did you even read what I said? I said any UFC stoppage was as fast as that. Karo vs. Serra went to a decision, there wasn't a stoppage in that fight.
here we go again. everyone bitching thier guy got screwed and the usual japanese conspiracy theories. the same japanese judges who seem to give brazilian fighters a lot of decision wins over japanese fighters.
And all the endings in the US are fair and square eh?
Just goes to show it was a close fight until the clip above.
grow up crybabies.
Exactly. Karo got dropped, Serra pounced and the ref didn't step in. He let the fight go and Karo came back to win.
This stoppage in K-1 was way too early.
And that thing about Japanese judges being fair applies to SHOOTO, not K-1. The most obvious bullshit judging happens in K-1. Look at Masato vs Buakow. It was in no way a draw in regulation.
"Exactly. Karo got dropped, Serra pounced and the ref didn't step in. He let the fight go and Karo came back to win."
Yeah, that's exactly the opposite of what I was talking about. Nice job! Now, can you name the opposite of these?
Sky
Black
Fire
MMA fans bitching about a fight being unfair when someone they thought was unstoppable loses to an underdog? Oh shit, pigs are flying!
Now, can you name the opposite of these? Sky Black Fire
Let me answer!
Bowl!
Albino!
Employ!
What do I win?
Complete bullshit stoppage... Once they replayed it in slow motion, they played it from a seperate bottom angle, where you could clearly see Pequeno's face, and he was NOT out of it. Infact he was repositioning, and the ref immediately stopped the fight. IMO, the refs sucked the entire night. They stopped the Kid fight too early as well (although there really wasn't any protest)...and the refs kept running around all excited, jumping up and down during the fights, and it was EXTREMELY distracting. They need to learn from Pride refs, Get the FUCK out of the way, and stop trying to pretend u are in the fight as well.
IMO, Pequeno lost round 2 (because of sub attempts from Tokoro), but the stoppage in overtime was ridicilous.
No comment of the Pequeno stoppage, though from that gif, it did look a tad early.
But the Karo/Serra thing is not a good comparison since Karo's head was never against the matt, I believe, as soon as he got dropped, he shot at Matt's leg and was holding on and his head was upright and pressed against Serra's body to avoid the blows.
I dont think Karo's head ever bounced back to the canvas after the initial drop.
