<p>Sources close to the fight have revealed that TUF 8 alumni "Filthy" <a target="_blank" href="http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/mma.cfm?go=stats.fighterDetail&pid=EADD65948505A862">Tom Lawlor</a> will potentially face Arizona Combat Sports fighter <a target="_blank" href="http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/mma.cfm?go=stats.fighterDetail&pid=F373A3C77E096F65">Aaron Simpson</a> at a yet-to-be announced Ultimate Fight Night on January 11th, 2010 in Fairfax, Virginia. Bout agreements have been distributed and are expected to be signed shortly.</p>
Lawlor is 2-0 in the UFC, having most recently defeated an ACS teammate of Simpson's in CB Dollaway at UFC 100, which also garnered him a lucrative submission of the night bonus. In a wierd side note, this will mark the fourth consecutive fight for Lawlor against an Arizona State University alumini, having previously fought Ryan Bader, Kyle Kingsbury, and CB Dollaway.
Aaron Simpson has had a fast track to the top in his short five-fight career. Simpson had only two fights before being called up to the WEC, defeating David Avellan in :18 seconds. With the removal of the welter division, Simpson was brought into the UFC where he has had two straight impressive victories.
The event marks the first time the UFC will visit Virginia, and only the second time they have scheduled an event on Monday evening.
