Sources close to the fight have revealed that TUF 8 alumni "Filthy" Tom Lawlor will potentially face Arizona Combat Sports fighter Aaron Simpson at a yet-to-be announced Ultimate Fight Night on January 11th, 2010 in Fairfax, Virginia. Bout agreements have been distributed and are expected to be signed shortly.

Lawlor is 2-0 in the UFC, having most recently defeated an ACS teammate of Simpson's in CB Dollaway at UFC 100, which also garnered him a lucrative submission of the night bonus. In a wierd side note, this will mark the fourth consecutive fight for Lawlor against an Arizona State University alumini, having previously fought Ryan Bader, Kyle Kingsbury, and CB Dollaway.

Aaron Simpson has had a fast track to the top in his short five-fight career. Simpson had only two fights before being called up to the WEC, defeating David Avellan in :18 seconds. With the removal of the welter division, Simpson was brought into the UFC where he has had two straight impressive victories.

The event marks the first time the UFC will visit Virginia, and only the second time they have scheduled an event on Monday evening.

Nice me first!

lawlor brings the pain

JUST BLEED BABY!

His next homage should be to Scott Ferrozzo and his banana-yellow suit at UFC12.

Lawlor goes to sleep in this one

ASU AIN'T GOT SHIT ON TOM (except bader)!!!

Good fight!

Meh, should've been Kendall IMO, they should be trying to build Tom with bigger names to capitalise on his popularity from 100

Also, what's with Tom vs. Arizona Combat Sports?

Tom by KO (knee)

I want everyone here to be the first to know that I am renouncing my moniker of "The Filthy Mauler".

My new nickname and persona will be revealed through a video (hopefully) by the end of this weekend.

Seeing as how it is reported I am fighting in VA, it will be only fitting.

No.

Interesting matchup

good fight.

i'll have to go with Simpson

ttt

Simpson is the real deal....too strong and explosive in my opinion, both standing and on the ground

Hmmm, what do homosexuality, smoothies, and Virginia have in common?

Another Simpson manhandling. The guy is a handful

Aaron Simpson is about to sign his own death certificate

smoogy - Aaron Simpson is about to sign his own death certificate

what a joke

As much as I'd like to see UG legend Tom Lawlor win, it's A-Train all day in this one.

This should be a great fight.

Simpson can suplex guys up and out of the cage, but no one in the weight class weighs-in better than Lawlor.

Given those two...I'll go with Lawlor by 2nd round stoppage.

TTT for Filthy Tom
