After Jessica Eye stepped off the scales and put her clothes back on for the photo op, she stood next to the scale leaning on it with one hand, and said something to the effect, “I’m done. I can’t even walk”. She missed weight by .25lb, weighing in at 126.25lbs. During her time in front of the cameras, she had an extreme look of worry in her eyes.
I know this this is a pretty sub par main event, with a sub par undercard, but is the main event tomorrow night in jeopardy of not happening due to complications with Eye’s current health? Or is she just being a drama queen? She’s never looked that bad at weighins before. She’s usually pumped up, full of energy, and eager to fight! You tell me.
The lack of professionalism in wmma weight cutting is really something.
I love wmma. I am pretty tired of seeing this happen, tho.
Has anyone compared the percentage of missed weights for women compared to men in the UFC?
As a rule, I won’t build weight cutting plans for women because I do not know how the hormonal and physical differences affect cutting. I think a lot of coaches run women through the same program as men with terrible results. Cyborg’s weight cuts with Lockhart were terrifying.

I agree, but it happens pretty regularly across the board for make and female. If you’re a professional, there should be no excuse for missing weight. None! Maybe the penalties need to be steeper, but if the fight is cancelled the fans get screwed too. It’s a shitty situation!
I appreciate Dana very much for putting together a whole month of fights after a long layoff but yeah I didn't even realize there was a UFC event this weekend. It wasnt advertised much and understandably so
Yeah and she was almost murdered in that fight. And she "earned" the title shot with 3 straight decision wins, 2 of them split. And that little 3 fight win streak was after 4 straight losses during a 1-5 stretch.

I agree with the overall content of your message, but that last sentence irritates me and underlines the fundamental problem with weight cutting: the cat and mouse game of getting your weight as high as humanly possible, and then cutting as much as humanly possible. Cyborg is an extreme case: the athlete is pumping herself full of roids that a woman would never normally encounter, and then expecting the weight cut to be some kind of magic tool that allows her to fight women 40lbs smaller than she is.
At what point do we stand back and say What The Fuck? She has no one to blame but herself. Her extreme weight cuts are direct consequences of her disgusting choices and insecurity. Edit: not a consequence of poorly understood weight cutting techniques.

Seeing as cyborg’s career and “goat” status was completely reliant on her physical advantages, She really wasn’t that good and Amanda proved it. That tubby chick was wayyy more resilient than cyborg.
Go watch the Gina figh. Two times during cyborg’s spastic palsy grappling/takedown attempts Gina ends up top mount. How does that happen? Of course the roided up cyborg was able to escape, but you get the jist of my point. Cyborg wasn’t good or technical, she was just roided, cut a lot of weight and was strong.
