These are some goddamn ugly shoes.
I mean I appreciate the background sentiment, but they look god awful, uncomfortable and poorly made.
Why can't Toms give proper sneaker or hiking shoes to these poor people? Even if you're a starving African you don't want to be walking around in no ugly ass Toms! The other villagers will point and say "ha what a fag you are for wearing those ugly ass monstrosities." 
Honestly haven't seen anyone wearing a pair of these since I was in like 4th or 5th grade... and it seemed like back then it was only the females buying them. 
They do all sorts of styles now. Not all ugly.
