It was an unbelievable experience.
Like most Fedor fans, I was deeply moved by the performance, and give nothing but respect to both fighters.
Fedor will never truly be appreciated by a lot of the newer fans to the sport, but those that have followed him for the last decade know what a privledge it is to see this guy anytime he fights. He has the heart of a lion, and just inspires everyone around him. The whole place was absolutely SHAKING for Fedor.
When Big Foot made the mistake of going for the leg, and Fedor reversed... I swear, everyone was on their feet SCREAMING. It was amazing.
As for the stoppage, the guy's eye was clearly damaged very badly.... that said, I feel that a champion deserves to go out on his own terms. The fight was not over, and you can NEVER count a guy like that out. Even Big Foot said post-fight that the fight should not have been stopped. A legend, a champion, a guy that has been at the top of the game for so long deserves 5 minutes. This wasn't a prelim bout, etc. That's just my feeling, though obviously we can understand the stoppage.
All that said, Big Foot is ABSOLUTELY ENORMOUS, and Fedor could not buck him off when he was on his back. Any time he would try, Big Foot would pass to a better position. It was a great fight, a real pleasure to see in person. I'm absolutely heartbroken that the only time I've seen Fedor live might very well be the last bout of his career.
Thank you Fedor for another AMAZING night, and if you come back, I will be right there ready to watch and root you on again, no matter what the outcome!
