Im very bored at work and I decided to take a survey of the victories of some of the lighter weight (155 and lighter) fighters who came from WEC or elsewhere that are in the UFC now. Didn't take their losses into consideration because that would be an in depth project that is too much work to do at work.
The survey consisted of 21 fighters consisting of: Donald Cerrone, Korean Zombie, Renan Barao, Brad Pickett, Ivan Manjivar, DJ, Dominick Cruz, Urijah Faber, Jose Aldo, Mizugaki, Ben Henderson and many more I'll try and list when I get home. But, here are the stats I gathered:
29 Unanimous Decisions
3 Split Decisions
12 Submissions
8 Knockouts
I really want to do a more in depth project consisting of every lighter weight fight so maybe I'll do that when I get home or later this week. For now, this'll have to do.
I think I speak for everyone here when I say we appreciate this very meaningful stat
Well it kind of proves a point that a hefty majority of their fights have been one sided decisions.
no it doesn't. unanimous =/= one-sided.
Just because a decision is unanimous, doesn't mean its "one sided" because you see alot of 29-28 fights where one round could have gone either way.
smac 2.0 - no it doesn't. unanimous =/= one-sided.
This.
smac 2.0 - no it doesn't. unanimous =/= one-sided.
Fair enough. In hindsight, you could see why I say that considering the fighter wins three rounds to none. Still, people critique these guys that they don't finish fights and I felt like compiling a little stat about it.
Didn't think it was groundbreaking, but I sure as hell found it interesting and wanted to share it with you guys.
For what it's worth, I love the lighter weight fighters and I dot agree with Bisping's remarks. I thought they were disrespectful and kind of puts the company he's working for in a weird spot.
Theyre exciting fights usually, but it just goes to show that most of the fights have gone to decision while few of them actually saw finishes.
What I learned from this is that there aren't as many finishes in this division as I thought. I want to see heavyweight stats!
Sorry, didn't mean three rounds to none. I meant the judges nod.

That's not what unanimous means.

it isn't a division, it's a random sampling of guys at various smaller divisions.

I know, I corrected myself. Thanks for the heads up, though Chief.
