Watching Faber in there last night made me think the FW division could be huge in the future. People really only rank the 5 major weight classes right now, but I thought I'd give a stab at the featherweights:
I'd have had Inoue above Faber but he recently lost to Tamura who had a less than stellar record at the time. I don't know Tamura or Inoue too well so I dunno if it was a fluke or if Tamura is the real deal.
I'd have put Paixao at #10 since he beat Imanari a while back but he just fought Denny at 170 and I think he said he was going to fight at 155 from here on out.
Kinda close, but not that close. The guy's ground game is amazing but the other parts of his game are sorely lacking and Hominick is really his first big win. I guess I would put him in the top 15, along with Sato and I'm not sure who else. Maybe Joe Pearson.
Speaking of Sato, I'd like to see Yahya/Sato, that would be friggin awesome.
I would put Yahya top 20, along with some guys like Paxiao and I think Manny Tapia is deserving of a bit of recognition at this point. Sato would still have to be there too.
Yea, Tapia is a name to watch in the division. I wouldn't be entirely shocked if he or Yahya got the next shot at Faber. This division has a lot of good fighters but most fight in Shooto. The WEC is going to need to start signing some of these top names if they want to make a competitive featherweight division.
good thread. its nice to see fws finally get some exposure outside of shooto. i hate having to watch those guys fight 180 lbs guys who cut to 155. except kid of course.
