Do you feel like you're training as often as you should be training?
If not, why not?
Do you feel like you're training as often as you should be training?
If not, why not?
I'd like to train more often, but do not because:
1- Busy
2- Lazy
3- Sore
I think it is perfect but at times my wife says too much....which tells me shes wrong.
I go 2-3 a week, sure I'd love to go more but I got a 2 and 5 year old, so I can't. Not willing to be absentee to them
I do BJJ 5 times a week, Kettlebell Training 3 times a week and some sprinting 2 times a week if a week goes perfectly. So 8-10 sessions are regular.
Take care
Bj?
How often "should" we be training? Do what makes you happy and doesn't
interfere with your family, job, and health.
I probably average twice per week, Sometimes I'll go 3 times in a week and sometimes I wont go at all. With my busy work hours at a big 4 accounting firm (damn busy season coming up)and family commitments, it's not possible to go any more than that. I'm only in it for recreational purposees anyways.
I definitely "would" like to train a lot more. Whether I "should" do is a different matter. I train BJJ as well as other arts, and spend 3 to 4 nights on average training.
However, I love the BJJ and would like to dedicate a bit more time for that. There are guys that come to the school and train a lot more than I do. They meet up to train when I am working so I don't get to practice as much as I want to. However, a lot of them do not have jobs, or do not work a typical 9 to 5. I have to put my career, mortgage and bills before anything else. There have been times when I have had to work away for lengthy periods of time on projects. My career is important because it allows me the luxuries in life. Training is one of them.
I try to make up for less training time by studying instructionals, buying books and also having the occasional private lesson with my teacher when I can afford it. It does annoy me sometimes because I want to train though.
Right now, once a week if I'm lucky.
I felt really great when I was going 6 days a week with a back to back class of 1.5hrs BJJ + 1.5hrs of wrestling on saturdays. I was also running and doing calisthenics 2 or 3 times a week at that time as well. I ate like a depressed Ricco Rodriguez and never gained a pound - I was 83 Kilos at that time and in the best shape of my life...
eyes mist up...
cprevost is correct.
And more doesn't mean better. As long as you can make even one session a week a very productive time then it is still good ( If you consistent with it).

But increasing mat time give you more experience. The experience is what gives you better technique, learn how to scape from different positions and so on.
K1 legend hoost trains 3 times a week
Age has a bit to do with it, too - doing back-to-back days is a bit rough on my middle-aged body. The under 25 crowd doesn't seem to have much problem with it.
So train as much as you can, while you can.
I have not been able to train except for maybe 1-2x per month lately, as I have a 9 month old at home and it's just my wife and I. I miss BJJ, but my family is a priority right now.
bandwidth,
It's true as long as you can handle it and NOT burn out. I am one of those guys who would burn out if I train more than 3 times/week.
I train twice a week. Ideally would train 4 times, however, A) my wife would leave me, B) the school isn't open at the weekend to train.
2-3x a week. I would train more if the school was open early mornings
right now, ZERO, hopefully i can start again this week, transportation in this state of california is a bitch if you don't have a car :(
The guys that are winning Tournaments, how many times per week are they training?
NO
Work, sore, hurt, lazy not in that order
