Training after nose surgery?

I had surgery, back in November for my nose. I broke it during practice and didn't let it heal fully and rebroke it during a fight. I had fractures on both sides of my nasal bone and a deviated septum.

Everything has been fixed except one side of my nose feels like the bone collapsed a bit. I was wondering if anyone has gone through something like this and how it's been returning to training and sparring. I'm scheduled to fight in April so I'll see how it goes but I'd like some feedback.

Thanks.

How can you breath since after surgery on your nose?

I can't breath barely at all through my right nostril and am thinking about getting surgery on it

I had surgery on my nose and it changes everything. If you can't breathe correctly it disturbs your sleep, health, on and on.

Always worth getting it looked at by an ENT.

I had mine done a year and a half ago, I breath fine now, but I refuse to get hit or kicking in it anymore! LOL!

Thanks Jeff but that is no help at all lol I can breath significantly better. I've had a deviated septum for a long, long time. I always had sinus infections and had a generally run down feeling. The congestion is gone, mostly, and it's been really nice. I don't want to re-break it but my career isn't over.

I just had nose surgery 4 weeks ago. Still little tender. I will give it a full 6 weeks before I do any type of sparring or rolling. I'll start with head gear with the nose guard first. I would suggest light contact at first and then pick up the pace slowly. The fist time u get hit will be ur true test. Good Luck!

Not sure if any of you guys are into homeopathic supplements, but cissus quadrangularis seems to have some beneficial bone healing effects.

Thanks Krzysztof, I plan on sparring this week sometime and I've been wrestling for a few weeks. I actually caught a solid accidental headbutt Friday and it bled a little bit but it wasn't too bad pain wise. It's weird because my nose feels so much more rigid now than it did before.

Thanks for the help DB.
