Training gear stinks. What do?

So it's come to that time again, I'm up to my fourth set of 16oz gloves, shin guards and head gear. This time I really cannot spare the $300 or so that will buy me more quality equipment. Any UGers recommend any ways I can clean this stuff to come up like brand new? Phone Post

vinegar has always been the best remedy from what I have heard. Works great for the clothes. Maybe soak the gear in a bucket of water and vinegar. probably a 1/20 ratio with warm water.

if not soak, then use a spray bottle with the same ratio.

Put them in a plastic freezer bag filled with water and put them in the freezer. No joke. The cold and ice kill all the odor causing bacteria.

Not in the UG Store, yet, but Cedar chip glove dogs will double the life of your gloves.

Stop Stinking.

Sand Blasting.

- Use tub/bin of hot water. Hot water is better because it melts fats and oils stuck to fabric.

- Dilute with some vinegar.

- Soak for a few hours, agitating every once in a while.

This works well for shin guards. I'm not sure if you'd want to soak gloves for too long as the foam padding will probably absorb a lot of water, so many just rinse it and scrub with a towel.

Looks like I'll have to try the vinegar soaking out then! Phone Post

yep vinegar soak and then wash in the machine

Is only answer. Sacrifice gear to Fire God.

Leaving it out in the sun helps. It is nature's bleach. Phone Post

If you can punch or kick hard enough you can knock the stink off of it.

Throw them into the fires of Mount Doom.

I have no problem with odor with my gloves.

Now that the problem is already there, you should follow the advice the other experienced guys give, but I think in general, with sanitary equipment, just avoid leaving them inside of an enclosed bag in the heat.

Bacteria grows best in warm, moist darkness.

Take them out after use and leave them somewhere unfavorable to more growth.

Haha none of my gi's or clothes stink just the foamy stuff that I'm worried about wetting too much Phone Post
