You’re pretty flat footed there. You should try to keep on your toes a little more so that you can return your body into position to throw a counter strike. Otherwise you’re going to arm punch/flail and gas quicker.

A quick example/test you can do on your own is just stand flat footed and you can feel your chi leaving your body out of your heels and bum. Now rise up onto your toes slightly, knees a little bent in an athletic manner and you can feel your chi enter your body and stay, stored up to defend or attack as needed.
