Triathlon for MMA Training and Weight Loss

I've decided to start training for a triathlon.

If anyone has any good links for training or upcoming races in Cali that would be appreciated.

I've noticed the success of Nick Diaz in his conditioning and pace.

My last few fights I have fought at 170 and 185 and have decided to make a push for 155 if not 145.

I think it should make giant benefits in my career. I'll keep you guys posted. Been recording all my runs and bike rides on my iPhone. Have been riding about 10-25 miles a day and about three miles running. Swimming is still a work in progress. This is all on top of my MMA, Wrestling, Sambo and BJJ training I do. Phone Post

you in norcal?

if so, you have tons and tons of places to choose for mountain biking. i do mountain biking 3x a week, and my leg strength and conditioning in general has increased 10-fold. highly recommended. easier on the knees than running (atleast for me), and get to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

I'm in SoCal but I go up to the bay a ton.

I do enjoy the lack of impact on my knees. It makes riding to work more fun anyway. More beneficial to my MMA career. Phone Post

Just sent in my registration for my first sprint-tri on July 24. I'm excited too!

Good luck. I'm shooting for maybe end of July or early August, would be a sprint as well.

Did like seven miles today biking. Shooting for about thirty miles tomorrow. Phone Post

triathlon is a great...but careful with the weight cut...cutting too much is a BAD IDEA

Yea I'm trying to not actually cut weight, but more or less lose weight and possible chance my body composition. I'm doing this to avoid cutting weight like i have in the past. Phone Post

Mountain biking and road biking are terribly different when you're talking triathalon level fitness.  At the end of the day riding a bike is riding a bike, but I would never mountain bike to become more fit for road biking.

Not trying to shit on you, but the riding styles are really different and in my experience, road biking will help with your mountain biking, but not necessarily the other way around.
