I started drumming when i was 8yo. My mom's boyfriend was a musician and taught me to play so he could write and play guitar. His favorite drummers at the time were Bonham and Neil Peart. I remember being astounded at Pearts skills and still am today. I used to put on their albums and copy as closely as possible. A few rock drummers caught my attention here and there (Stuart Copeland) being one, but many years had passed since 1981 until I heard a new tune on the radio by a band called TOOL in 1996 called Sober. And there it was, a sound and technicality I hadn't heard since Neil Peart. From then on I was a TOOL fan and as a drummer, just in awe of the creativity and technicality Danny brings to the drums.

I know he's not the best, but his style and the creativity he brought to the set places him among the greatest rock drummers ever.

and
He plays THe Baked Potato all the time... but not with Tool. With Volto (which has an amazing line-up, really, including Jeff Babko on keys, Lance Morrison on bass, and John Ziegler (from Pygmy Love Circus) on guitar. Danny's a beast. Nice guy, too, from what I can tell.
Thanks for loading the vids. Considering what he does with Tool, he said somewhere he has all the drum parts finished within a week. Simply astounding considering the variety and creativity he puts in. Also funny how he met Maynard and Adam. They were neighbors and they asked him to fill in when their other drummer didn't show up. He said he felt sorry for them, so he agreed and it went from there.
I remember back in the day before Tool he was a studio drummer and did a ridiculous Little Pig, Little Pig song with Green Jelly.
