Tying Your BELT

Here is a cool way of tying your belt.

so....

I'm all for having a nice tight belt and keeping my flaps in tact and will
fight a guys hands when they try and undo the flaps for control tactics
and chokes.

I know it may come off eventually, but a well tied belt can make it
difficult.

alot of guys don't mind the flaps going loose and will even take them
out themselves. I wonder why they would do that and give their
opponent extra handles to get controlled & choked.

I do it because:

(1) I use my own lapels to control and choke and

(2) psychologically, I just feel looser and faster with them out. No idea why, and I know it's all in my head...but that doesn't mean it doesn't have an impact.

but....

what if it's all in your head?

; )

i'm thinkin it's a double edge sword in that it gives you a few more
options but it also gives the opponent some options too.

i dunno, I' guess I'm just thinkin the less options I give is a good way
to go.

I can't stand when my opponents use the over the back lapel control,

ughhh.... that one gives me fits.

just like steve
I use my lapels alot and I use my oppenents belt to help with some sweeps so it also is a handle ;)

that's pretty cool

I like it!!

If your belt does not come untied, what do you use as an excuse to catch your breath . . . instead of re-tying your belt???

Pop a contact.

Just blurt out, 'Did you tap?' then stop

even if he says, 'Dude, I was working the Kimura and almost had it, wtf.'

just say, 'oh I thought you tapped, my bad'

then go get some water.

ttt

then go get some water...that is classic!

i give up on this one...what is ttt?

About 90% of the time if there's a gi and they take mount i get out using the belt lol. I guess you need to be kinda flexible to do it but yo just put your foot into it and push off, the only defense we found (and we did try to find something) was a loosely tied belt.

Dear Poop,
ttt is short for "to the top", when you've got nothing to add, but you want to bump a thread higher up.

Most people here have nothing to add.

Welcome, I hope you make it out ok.
