Tyrone Spong suffered a broken tibia when his low-kick was stopped by Gokhan Saki's knee at GLORY 15 ISTANBUL on April 12.
He returned to Florida the next day for emergency surgery and posted this video message shortly after he emerged from theater. The surgery was 100 per cent successful and he has been told his return could be achieved in six months.
Damn I know that nod to well. Really shitty and was so looking forward to that fight. Hopefully Tyrone comes back just as strong because he is a beast and was looking forward to his WSOF fights. Just really started getting into Glory and he was the one name that I knew when I started watching kickboxing. I have actually been looking forward to the Glory cards than most MMA events of late. I used to hate Mauro during his Strikeforce days but ever since he started calling the Showtime boxing cards he has kind of grown on me. And Duke is great too on the Mic. Ok Glory shilling over, best of luck to Tyrone and hope he has a quick recovery.
Further proof that Tyrone Spong is an absolute beast! Mad respect to him...get well soon Tyrone! Here's a video he posted on instagram 2 days ago. Blue please?
To all my fans and supporters - I realize I have not been very active on social media for the past couple of months. I experienced two great tragedies in my family during my training camp. I lost a great friend and former training partner Tarik el Idrissie who got killed in amsterdam and my uncle in Suriname was brutally murdered just two weeks apart. These tragic losses hit my family very hard, and I channeled my feelings into the short time I had left to train for Istanbul april 12 only to break my leg very unfortunately and I needed surgery. I want to congratulate gokhan saki! He handled it like a gentleman and he earned even more from the respect he already had from me! All the love and support from you guys the fans!!! pushed me through and motivates me to come back STRONGER! I am a WARRIOR! in heart, mind and soul and I will be back SOON. I will be posting more pics and videos like this one for you (shot 40 hours post-surgery) I want to thank my team the @blackzilians @sugarashadevans all my teammates I couldn't done this with out you guys! My manager Glenn Robinson all the ones I forgot to call out! Thank you all! #made#in#suriname# #tyrone #king#spong #champion #grandchamp #blackzilians #blessed #thank #god
