Tyson return?

I'd pay to watch Phone Post 3.0

downperiscope - Shouldn't be vote downs. You put a ? You said it was a rumor.

It would make me really sad. Not Want/Chuck 5 years late sad, but sad that they were both doing it for a check. Phone Post 3.0

Chuck and Wand were both world champion within a calendar year when that fight happened as where Tyson has been shot for 15 years and Toney 10

since Tyson hates Floyd and maybe Canelo/Cotto might want to compete with floyd's "retirement" fight in September would be awesome if they are place in the CO-main but Tyson could headline any card any place and would do well for himself

jonnierockets20 - I'd watch tyson fight at 90 Phone Post 3.0

THIS!!

HA HA!

100% agree. The more I think about it the more I like it.

Probably won't happen though.

Too bad that whole Tyson/Sapp think in K1 turned out to be a stunt. I wanted to see that one too!

Now THAT would have been awesome. I believe he still could have gotten in shape back then. Right now, not so much. It's too late.

No he can't.

Tyson's last few fights were no longer PPV draws.

At all.

Tyson returning would be a PPV bomb a la Hopkins vs Jones Jr. II.

The public may love seeing Tyson lip sync on Spike and playing the convicted rapist turned teddy bear but they ain't paying to see him fight any longer.

No way. Phone Post 3.0

HUGE Toney and Tyson fan here!

Really hope this isn't true. Tyson said years ago he doesn't enjoy the game anymore. He admitted this in interviews several times when asked about a comeback. Would be horrible to see him comeback for a paycheck. Reminds me of Joe Louis, bless his soul, had to fight to pay his debts off, well into his 60's.
James Toney, even this version, has too much defensive skills left and is a great counter puncher. If Danny Williams made Tyson quit in 4, what's Toney going to do.
Hope this bout doesn't transpire. A slow Tyson isn't exploding or counterpunching his way past anyone.

And I am a fkn HUGE fan of both these guys.
As a young kid in the 80's I used to get up to watch them at 3/4am. The excitement was unreal. Never had those feeling back watching any other live event since!
Toney reminds me of Mike McCallum, his skills set is old school. A lost generation of skills I fear. Phone Post 3.0

A friend of mine is a training partner of Toney and he's been putting it up on Facebook for months now. He says its "90% close to being signed" whatever's that means. Phone Post 3.0

It will sell big time. The return of iron mike will make money. Who knows? If he goes in and starches toney early there could be another fight for him after that. My big hope is that he surrounds himself with good people and doesn't get dragged thru the shit again. Phone Post 3.0

onepunchJD - Tyson fights were some of the most anticipated events of my life growing up.

I like James Toney too.

Not sure what to think here... but I wouldn't miss it.
So you don't know much about Toney Phone Post 3.0

Elaborate.
Google him fucker. Maybe learn about who you comment on before hand Phone Post 3.0
Ohh shit. I quoted the wrong post. So sorry
Me = dumbass Phone Post 3.0

LOL

I had quoted this to respond, and I saw your next post on the way down.

James Toney was one of my favorites.

Still think Tyson would take it though.. all things being equal.

i feel the same way

It will most likely be a shit fight and it will also draw huge numbers. Phone Post 3.0

You might be right.

But I tend to think that Tyson knows himself well enough to know if its realistic. He might be getting nostalgic. We might even see that old head movement again!

Several of my favorite fighters have disappointed me late in their careers... Tyson included.

.. no harm in being optimistic one more time.

I agree with your sentiment, but Joe Louis last fought in 1951. He had the pro fight with Marciano and an exhibition in December. He was only 37 at the time. He was 66 when he died in 1981. It always amazes me that 30 year old athletes 50 years ago seem like 50 year old athletes today. The advancement in training and supplementation has come an incredibly long way. Phone Post 3.0
