73kg judoka Nicholas Delpopolo has been expelled from the Olympics due to positive test of marijuana after reportedly accidentally ingesting marijuana laced baked goods prior to leaving for London. http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/06/sport/olympics-delpopolo-marijuana-makhloufi/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

I can see banning a guy who is high, but just metabolites does not make sense?

Indeed. Phone Post

So I guess when Diaz's lawyer said marijuana metabolites were kosher with WADA (which was created by the IOC) he was talking out his ass.

and that surprises you?

the devil's lettuce has claimed another victim

The effects of Reefer Madness are felt even now

that poor guy that accidentally ate dope brownies....

poor poor guy.
I know accidentally ingesting marijuana happens to EVERYONE.

i do hope everyone knows he had already lost and placed 7th. it's not like it mattered

That's the part that really chaps my ass. There is no reason to do this to the poor guy after having already lost. Especially considering there isan American sprinter who has pissed hot twice for doping and was recently just let off a suspension from the IAAF so he could compete. It's not like Delpopolo was using a steroid or was blood doping. He tripped a month ago and is being punished for it. But these guys can pop Tylenols and Advils all day or take cortisone shots just before competition. But to eat a weed brownie a month ago in the privacy of your home is "bad for the sport". So is hawking McDicks to young people. Complete fucking bullshit.

Ya, bro, I'm mad.

It's like the Force. Even if you only have a little bit of it left in you, you can control the minds of the weak.

That's clearly not what I'm saying. I'm saying there was absolutely no reason to make such a big deal about him testing positive for metabolites from a month ago. Just tell him in private, he's already gotta deal with coming 7th. Just tell him, you're records are being expunged from this year's Olympics due a positive test for marijuana. Your welcome to come back again if you qualify, just don't use marijuana again. All this pageantry for a bunch of bullshit. It's just to take away from Justin Gaitlin (i think that's who it is) barely even making the Olympics due to doping. It's just silly, especially considering that he could have gone out and gotten shitbagged the night before and no one would care. But oh you ate a cake with a silly plant in it, now you can't play anymore. Fucking ridiculous.

first you have absolutely no idea how they dealt with the matter, it's public record and cnn picked it up (or another news agency)

second, it DOES matter to the people that didn't break the rules.

What it doesn't affect is the medal ranking.

and as for the infraction itself? if it's a rule, and he broke it, it makes zero difference how cool or dumb you think the rule is, he knew the rule, and failed to uphold it.

you just don't get it. it seems like you think they should have whispered it to him, not sent him home like everyone else that breaks the rules, and not said anything to anyone. How stupid is that?

it's a big deal because he's the first american to get expelled from the games for it.

Accidentally Phone Post

He took Eldred's spot, thanks to shitty reffing.
