U want soccer kicks 2 head of downed opponent now?

Just curious how many people would like to see soccer kicks to the head of a downed opponent in the UFC nowadays, given what we are starting to understand about the effects of head trauma. A soccer kick just appears so brutal nowadays and seems it would do much more damage than even a big, clean overhand right or left. It's like a flush H-bomb x 5.

I didn't think much about it when watching Pride. In fact, back then I wished the UFC would allow them in order to help prevent turtling up and stalling on the mat. Now that time has passed, it just looks almost barbaric to me and basically a way of begging for guys to be afflicted with Alzheimer's by the time they are 45-50. I wish the UFC would bring in some of what made Pride so awesome, but head kicks to a downed opponent would not be one of them.

Anyone else glad they are not allowed in the UFC or am I just a giant sandy vagina who should be all for implementing them?

Time to write a theme song.

Tad Ghostal - If you are allowed to kick a guy in the head I don't see what difference it makes if he's standing up or not.

Just add the knees to downed opponent and upkicks and rules are fine imo. Soccer kicks not very good for mainstream but I loved them in Pride :)

I want all fighters to have Adamantium claws surgically implanted.

Yes Pride allowed soccer kicks. And as soon as someone started getting kicked in the head they would go out damn near instantly and the fight would be stopped anyway. I don't miss them, but I do smile when I see a soccer kick to the body in UFC

I'd like to see fighters dip their gloves in caramel and then cover them with their choice of topping, e.g., gummy bears, sprinkles, etc... Phone Post 3.0

I remember Jay R. Palmer stomping this guy's face back in SuperBrawl. Held the dude by the hands as he was down & stomped directly on his chin about 3 times, let the dude's hands go & watched them fall limply to the mat. It was one of the scariest things I've ever seen in sport.
I know stomps aren't exactly soccer kicks, but the implications are much the same. The potential for danger is so great that hell yes, I wanna see it.

I felt the same way about soccer kicks to the head when I was watching pride years ago but now not so much, and they also look barbaric to the casual viewer Phone Post 3.0

Stomps, Knees to a grounded opponent sure

Soccer kicks...fuck no

Yes, I'd like to see soccer kicks, stomps and knees to the head of grounded opponents.

It changes the dynamic of the fight dramatically if you have to deal with those kind of techniques. That situation where one guy is on the bottom asking the other guy to get in his guard would go away immediately.

Fights would be finished with knees to the head from side-control..that would force the guys on the bottom to be more aggressive with improving positions etc.

Soccer kick is not a skilled move and is almost impossible to avoid. Phone Post 3.0

Try this... Take a soccer ball and set it on the ground, kick as hard as you can, measure the distance. Next, put the same ball on a post 5.5' high and kick as hard as you can. Measure the distance. The difference between the 2 is how stupid the idea, of kicks to the head of a downed opponent, is. Phone Post 3.0

They're not just violent looking.

Having someone like Jose Aldo give you a kick to the head when you're on the ground seems like one of the quickest ways to end your career

don't know how i feel about soccer kicks. they make the fight more exciting (yes) but they also need to look out for the two fighters safety. if you get knocked out by a soccer kick by aldo means you shouldn't win either way but then again it's a sport not a street fight. rules are needed. most careers end with injuries and stupid training.
