UFC 103 in Dallas a sellout with 17,428 attendees, $2.4 million estimate gate

The UFC's first-ever trip to Dallas was a sellout.

In the post-event press conference for Saturday's "UFC 103: Franklin vs. Belfort" event, UFC president Dana White announced that the show drew 17,428 fans to the American Airlines Center.

The soldout event produced an estimated live gate of $2.4 million.

UFC 103 featured the first-ever 13-fight lineup in UFC history, headlined by a 195-pound catchweight fight between former UFC champions Vitor Belfort and Rich Franklin. Two of the night's bouts aired on Spike TV and five on pay-per-view. The event, which was heavily promoted to counter a competing boxing PPV of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Juan Manuel Marquez?, produced the largest sports gate in American Airlines Center history. (Only a 2005 Rolling Stones concert produced a bigger gate that UFC 103.)

nobody here cares about your stupid fucking rivalry. you're almost as bad as the fedor haters...both of you cant post on a fucking thread without being negative and antagonistic. just fucking stop already.

Funny you don't get upset when anyone on here trashes boxing. A few of us make valid rebuttles thats it.

In the grand skeem of things a 2.4 million dollar gate isnt shit.

I'm one of the last fans on here who actually loves both sports - i can't stand to see people make ignorant comments about boxing - nor would anyone here tolerate bashing of MMA of anysort

Fact is wrestling, judo, BJJ all get talked up on this fourm...but every "MMA fan" seems to love to talk shit on boxing.

You bitching at the wrong audence turn your attention to the UFC fanboys who overran this board.

Its not...thats not even a blip on the radar to show how fantastic MMA is.

Joe Calzaghe a dude who no one in America cared about and a 40+ year old Bernard Hopkins did almost 12 million dollar live gate a year ago.

wow, 2.4 million! btw, what did the mayweather fight pull?

skeem?

THINK ABOUT THE GRAND SKEEEEEM OF THINGS GUYS CMON

I stopped giving any fucks about Boxing after i discovered MMA.

xakx - I stopped giving any fucks about Boxing after i discovered MMA.

Exactly. Growing up, watching boxing, I always thought "this would be so much more enjoyable if they were actually fighting"

I like watching the fights myself

watching BOXING feels to much like watching american gladiators

The rematch between Gene Tunney and Jack Dempsey drew a $2.7 million gate in 1927.

spelled "scheme" I think

LMAO... grand skeem ?

Frate Trane, IMO.

Bukorki - -I got in for free.

-I know of other people that got in for free.

-I know people got free tickets from Dana at the mall.

-I also saw plenty of empty seats.

Not a sellout, imo.

Which mall? Damn, I wanted free tickets!

You seem upset. Have you not noticed the url of the forum youre posting on? Perhaps the lack of "boxing" in the name of the site should have tipped you off that fight fans here are, in fact, MMA fans. Sure, some are fans of boxing as well, but all are here as fans of MMA. Maybe in the grand skeem of things, you overlooked this fact. Which is mind bottling to say the least.

on a mma forum trashing mma... get the fuck out

This just shows how the sport is developing at such a fast pace...I'm a die hard MMA fan, passionate as hell about the sport, and I wasn't super excited about this card. A lot of people I talked to weren't that excited about it either, yet it still sold over 17,000 seats not to mention all of the Pay-per-view purchases. Once again Dana, great job of promoting the sport...looking forward to TUF next Wednesday.

i loved 103.  i was there and it was awesome for my first ufc ever but there was no way this was a "sellout".
