                    <blockquote>

The UFC's first event of 2010, "UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva," drew 13,529 attendees for a $1,969,670 paid gate at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Of the total attendance, 5,314 tickets were issued complimentary. An additional 599 tickets went unsold.

The official attendance figure means UFC 108 was the ninth-most attended UFC event ever held at MGM Grand Garden Arena, just edging out UFC 54, which had 13,520 attendees in August 2005.

DW is so generous with the fans.

Cindy

how does one go about getting one of these complimentary tickets?

Damn. Average of $258 per ticket. WOW!

I think it's cool of the UFC to have given away so many tickets but I also think there's something to be said about 40% of the people in attendance being comps.

^ not really

I got a comp seat to the UFN from a friend's mom who works for a cable company. The UFC hooks up people all over from big companies, especially if they help broadcast the UFC and TUF.

500 companies X 10 tickets is 5000 tickets.

The seats we had were 100 dollar seats.

The comp out 500k+ worth of seats I bet.

How does comping work?
Must the UFC buy the tickets from where the event is being held (this time, MGM) or do they simply own all the tickets and can do whatever they want?

Almost 40% comp seems extremely high.

.

Let's be honest about what motivates a promoter to comp tickets, Cindy. It is not just about sharing the love ...

I don't think there is any way Cindy wrote her post with a straight face.

Comp out 5K tickets to a show people actually want to see, then I'll be impressed. They comped out these tix because they couldn't sell them and didn't want a half empty building on PPV

^^^ Plus they boost the concession (which keeps the arena happy too, since it's typically split) ... Plus they get a write-off, etc ...

The UFC is failing! The UFC is failing!!!!!
