According to a report from MMAFighting’s Ariel Helwani, the UFC is trying to set up a welterweight title fight between current champ Robbie Lawler and former title holder Georges St. Pierre for July’s blockbuster UFC 200 pay-per-view event.
Here is what Helwani had to say on twitter:
@arielhelwani Do you think the co-main event will be Robbie Lawler vs. Georges St. Pierre for UFC 200?
Helwani also reported that the UFC is still searching for a co-main event for UFC 200 and that the Frankie Edgar vs. Jose Aldo interim featherweight title fight was never planned to be the event’s co-main feature. His words:
How could you have the return of arguably the greatest fighter of all time in a title fight co main against a LW fight being fought at WW with no title involved??
Mcgregor and the hype would be involved regardless, but out of legitimacy, GSP/Lawler needs to be main.
In what world would Lawler V (A returning) GSP (possible WW title on the line) be co-main to a featherweight vs a lightweight, at welterweight in a rematch of a decisive victory that transpired only months before.. Wtf?
Am I the only one who thinks, while I do love GSP (beep!), that the fight with Lawler would be just GSP taking down and controlling Robbie? Not the most exciting fight

No, you're not. I'd much rather see Wonderboy vs Lawler.
