UFC 203 PPV Buy Predictions

Main Card:

Stipe Miocic (c) vs. Alistair Overeem
Fabrício Werdum vs. Travis Browne
CM Punk vs. Mickey Gall
Urijah Faber vs. Jimmie Rivera
Jéssica Andrade vs. Joanne Calderwood

How many buys do you expect this card to get? If it had Arlovski vs. Barnett or even the Cyborg fight instead of the CM Punk fight how much different would that number be?

I honestly never heard of CM Punk until he was signed by the UFC so I'm trying to gauge the kind of impact people are expecting.

I figure this is a 4-500k buy card at best. If it goes way over that I guess they knew what they were doing. What number would they consider a big success?

I'm not buying it. Spent too much money on UFC this year already. Looks awesome though.

267,000 buys. Phone Post 3.0

Les Paul - 267,000 buys.

Yeah that to about tree fiddy K sounds about right.

Neither Econoreem nor Miocic are PPV sellers and CM Punk has waited to long to make is debut. His last WWE match was January 2014.

500,000 because of CM Punk Phone Post 3.0

310,000

Being right after 202 will hurt it for sure.
I think 460,000 is realistic because of Punk.

My wrestling board isn't talking up punk much but I guess that will change a week out. Show does not worse than 600k Phone Post 3.0

UFC would be very happy if it did that well. It's hard to get casual fans to buy back to back cards.

Not much. Phone Post 3.0

Wrestling fans have the WWE network for 10 bucks.

You get EVERY PPV.

It took them over a year to get 1 million subscribers.

Fans STILL torrent and steal programming.

At a 10 dollar price point there are still neck beards stealing WWE content.

And you really think they are all lining up to pay 60 bucks to see ONE fight that could last one minute or a max of 15?

This card does 300-375K.

It's not 2008 when Brock debuted.

More people cut the cord and more people understand torrents plus you have various streaming sites as well as Periscope.

Will wrestling fans want to watch Punk?

Yes.

Will they want to PAY to see it?

NO.

So it's insane that people think wrestling fans aren't tech savvy and will pony up 60 bucks to see one fight.

No way. If they can't pay 10 a month to get a library, original content plus PPV and WrestleMania?

They won't pay 6 times that for 1-15 minutes that's not guaranteed to even turn out as they'd like. Phone Post 3.0

If it ain't Dutch, it ain't much -

500k would be a mind blowing success. What whas the last Heavyweight fight that even did 400k? Even in boxing...

They haven't marketed the championship fight. It's been all about punk.

As far as wrestling fans not paying $10 for the network I agree. But the initial launch number was 675k that DID pay for it 3 months in including the 400k on launch day. If a third of those hardcore wrestling fans pay for this fight plus your hardcore UFC fans that buy a show no matter what (about 250) you get to 400k easy. The rest of my prediction comes from last minute casuals. Phone Post 3.0

I feel like my original guess was high. Thinking 350k is closer.

At what number do we say "what was the point of all this"?

The show doing below 400k is a failure Phone Post 3.0

Honestly, the CM Punk thing took so long to come to fruition that the lustre has been lost for me. A couple of good heavyweight tilts on this card but this division is lacking a superstar. The card is meh, and nothing more in my own personal opinion that nobody cares to hear!

Werdum vs Miocic stadium show sold 300-350k, and Werdum vs Cain sold 300k. So if the numbers are around that figure you can make a point he wasn't worth it.

If it's over 450k, I'd say success. Under 350 is failure. Phone Post 3.0

is there buzz about this card on WWE message boards?

400-600K only because of the resurgence of the UFC PPV's lately. Phone Post 3.0
