Wanting a fighter to win so badly, while at the same time, strongly believing he won't win.
Jon Jones hit and run on pregnant woman, issues with strippers at strip clubs
Conor McGregor bus, hitting old man
BJ Penn street fighting
We see a lot of high caliber fighters in the news for the wrong type of headlines.
Then we are blessed with Dustin Poirier.
He doesn't hide his face in a purple pillow after a devastating loss. He doesn't retire and quit. He gets back in the gym, gets back on the grind and gets better.
Married to his MIDDLE SCHOOL sweetheart.
Never any problems with the law.
He gives back to his community, as well as does shit like this-

I would LOVE to be wrong on this. Dustin is already a champion in my eyes. Win or lose, that is a champion level human being.
But Khabib is just a monster. 27-0, keeps improving his skills not just his record. Most impressive about Khabib, is his hunger. So many times fighters make it to the top, only to lose that hunger. Not Khabib though. He stays hungry and it shows in his fights.
Even if hunger could be a slight issue this time in his career, it won't be for this fight. Khabib's fighting in his home territory. Not only is this the first time his dad will watch him fight in UFC live, but he'll also be there to corner him.
Khabib is a good dude, I like him too but Dustin I just feel his defensive wrestling will be the tale of this fight.
I've never wanted to be more wrong about a fight though.

Too bad you're not in the ring yourself to show off your high level of expertise for three years of training and becoming a master
^^that post really emphasizes where on a totally different thread you suggest I am emotional^^ Fantastic way to prove that point lol
Agree with OP, Dustin is the man

Well, when you shit talk someone and try to belittle them, you should honestly expect some backlash
Takedowns landed by Dustin Poirier in his career (24 fights): 25
Takedowns landed by Khabib Nurmagomedov against Abel Trujillo: 21 (a UFC record)

In Nurmagomedov's last six bouts his takedown totals are six, two, two, four, six and three. An average of 3.83 per fight. Three of those bouts were finished in under 15 minutes. More impressively is that those numbers come against the likes of Rafael dos Anjos, Edson Barboza, Al Iaquinta and Conor McGregor. The upper echelon of the division.
Significant strikes absorbed by Khabib Nurmagomedov in his entire UFC career: 260 Significant strikes landed by Dustin Poirier in his last three fights combined: 406

What a great contribution. Dickhead.

So he was able to get up 20 times. How is that impressive.
What's interesting about this stat is one of Dustin's best statistical attributes is his punching output. He(Dustin) doesn't get a lot of knockdowns, but he makes up for it in volume.
Against Khabib, his volume needs to be the same or better because-

That's actually a good mention and worth noting.
His ability to get up was way above average, but his ability to not get taken down again.....(21 time UFC record)
Khabibs last 6 fights are the only ones that are worth anything. To me he's 6-0. It's good but he's not unbeatable. People talk about this guy like he will never lose. Like he CAN'T lose. There have been many fighters people have thought this about but time and time again they eventually lose much sooner than expected.

To me he is 6 and 0.....really? You dont rate the rest so they dont exist to you?
khabib honed his skills verses these guys you dont rate and then came to the ufc and smashed everyone the same way her smashed those guys.
Maybe you should get off your high horse.
Yeah because they were nobodies. All they did was inflate his record. I give credit where it's due and his last 6 opponents were worthy of the credit: No high horse, look at someone like Jon. Dude faced the best of the best and is virtually undefeated, everyone knows Hamill didn't beat him. People just swooning over Khabib because fan boys always thirsty for the next "big fighter". That's fine but let's not sit here and pretend he's been through a murderers row with his "27-0" record.
You cherrypick khabib because he is the big dog,l get it. I have been a staunch khabib suppoter since he came to the ufc,l have championed him on the ug for years.
Styles make fights and khabibs style wrecks all. Simple af.
And jon jones was put into the ufc after 6 fights, nobodies numbers stack up well to that. Also you forget the no cotest for cheating.
You should revise the whole ufc roster. There are so many unworthy records out there, its a travesty.

Daniel will never beat Jones. That no contest is a joke, even Daniel still counts the loss because he knows Jon whooped his ass regardless of any test results. Khabib is just another fraud yet to be exposed.

exposed in what way? You claiming Khabib is on the juice?
DC lost to a juiced Jones once and had a NC against a juiced Jones in the second fight.
Jones will never fight him clean because he knows the outcome.
