UFC HW title this weekend, huge historic HW fight.
Sep 7th Bader vs Kongo for the Bellator title.
Sep 14th De Fries vs Grabowski for the KSW title
Sep 31st Tony Johnson vs Evgeny Goncharov for the ACA title.
Oct 13th Vera vs Sang for the ONE title
Dec 31st is the PFL title fight.
These are really the only six HW titles that matter in MMA. The UFC title matters the most by far. The Bellator title is second. The PFL title is the third most difficult to acquire but it is new. The other three titles don't have much prestige at HW.
Well I think it is cool the six biggest titles are up for grabs. Bellator did not have their HW title active for years before the tourny.
I imagine Rizin will get around to getting a HW title, they have a LHW title now. They are trying to build themselves on their small Japanese stars but I imagine the Japanese fans miss the HW stars that used to fight in Japan and someone like Tenshin or Horiguchi can't fill that void.
HW title fights are special, at least in big promotions, the public knows they are not just watching guys compete to be the best within a ten pound range but to be the best in the world regardless of weight. Part of what made Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Ali, Tyson, etc... such big stars.
Look at someone like Asakura, best 105 lb woman in the world, more skills than Lesnar by far, public don't give a shit, they love Lesnar because he is larger than life.

I think the Vera vs sang fight is for the light heavyweights title.
Would be awesome if someone came up like a Reem 2.0 grabbing all the B level belts before going for the UFC strap.
