From an entertainment perspective, would you prefer to see matchup a based on rankings directly or at the will of the matchmaker? For example instead of the Conner/Diaz rematch we'd be looking at Conner vs Frankie/Aldo and Diaz vs Cowboy/Barboza.
It provides less flexibility in matchmaking but adds more sense of progression to the sport

OGstudmuffin - The UFC is an entertainment companyI wouldn't necessarily disagree. Would it really be less entertaining with more defined matchmaking though? I lose interest in prelim fights that mean nothing, number one contender fights that never play out, titles sitting around gathering dust. I know if I ran a company I would want full control, but is the opposite really less entertaining?
