UFC Brazil Ref Explanation

In the US the referees work for the sanctioning Commission. In Brazil the refs work directly for the UFC.

Probably explains some of the quicker stand ups ... especially against AJ because he DESERVED it missing weight by 12 pounds : )

Youabsolutelysuck - EXACTLY WHAT I SAID!!! Joe would not have gotten away with that with the NSAC or the CSAC. Phone Post

Hmmm, I had actually forgotten this. Still, Joe was right guys. That was maybe a point deduction at most, but a DQ? Really? Phone Post

What exactly did he get away with that he wouldn't have in California or Nevada?

He questioned the refs call and gave him an interview so that Mario could explain his actions. Joe is allowed to disagree and comment the way he sees fit.

nonsanctioned... shady bizniss.. soem motherfuckers got paid

I believe the officials are "leased" from the AC, so not technically employees of Zuffa, or technically employees of the AC.

Joe never worked for the AC, so why would he care. He was absolutely right, imo, and he is paid to give commentary on what he saw.

It is ridiculous to me that he is expected by some people to disregard what happened, just in case it might make somebody feel inadequate.

Please.

I LOVE the fact that Rogan doesn't toe the company line and calls it how it is.

Mario fucked up with a horrible call and in the process robbed a young kid of an emphatic victory in front of his friend and family that he trained for months for, damaged his record, and potentially cost him money if he had a show/win deal.

There is no grounds to complain that he had to answer some 'on the spot' questions about his shitty decision.

good point; i was like shit, Big Dan wasnt tolerating the lay n pray

Uncle Dana probably told him to keep an eye in the Vitor for AJs wrestlefucking attempts

was mario killed by bralilians later that night?

Also at one point a big deal was made about Joe Silva thinking one fighter tapped, as if that somehow mattered. Unusual shit went down last night.

In the USA the refs are employes of the sanctioning Commission.

In Brazil they are employes of Zuffa ( no mazzagoti last night .... LOL )

There is no "leasing" that you mention.

With Karma, yes AJ deserved it.

In a sporting event trying to gain respect, both competitors need to be treated equally regardless of what happened before outside the ring.

Those quick standups -- aberrations from how fights are generally conducted -- could be anything from the management putting pressure on the ref to force a loss/ejection from a contract to a person betting large amounts of money and bribing the ref.

It just comes across as sketchy when one fight is handled differently from other fights by the same ref.
