Thank you for posting....These vids are very educational
Andreas Hesselback -JohnnyKnees - By the way who is the pad holder. He has some serious skill.
From the youtube description;
Featured trainers in this video include Kru Nazee and Kru Prathet. Nazee is a 3x Southern Thailand Muay Thai champion with over 250 career fights including an impressive win over Kharuahard Sor Suphawan.
Prathet has a professional MT record of 180 wins with only 70 losses. Competing as a Pro Boxer Prathet has also accomplished an impressive 14-2 record with one of his losses coming to Boxing champion Michael Katsidis.
Thanks!
TTT for FITCH
lol @ specifying "UFC fighter" Jon Fitch.... I'm pretty sure if you're on this board, you know who Jon Fitch is.
Fitch is really open to learning everything the Thai's are willing to show him. It is very impressive seeing the number 2 welterweight in the world as a humble athlete only looking to improve.
TTT very impressive work ethic.
Can you talk a little about the concept of play in Muay Thai. My coach has been getting on me lately to play more and i'd like to hear more experienced thai fighters offer persepctive.
Anybody?
Ray if any of these cats wanna hook over to Australia from Thailand (while down this way) for some R&R or spar a few Aussie guys (bigger) let me know.
Brian has some great guys at his Perth Gym (daniel DAWSON + more)& I am based in Brisbane, where you have the likes of JWP, Preacher, Nathan CARNAGE Corbett 185lb thai monster!!!
Always keen to help out the mma traveller.

CREzja1 - Jon, did the humidity slow you down a bit? When you got off the plane and into the weather did you notice it immediately? Not sure what the weather is like now, but when I went it made FL feel great as far as humidity.
Who is holding the pads here? How did Jon's workouts there go, as in what did they consist of? How did you like Thailand? Also I see in the beginning of the video you kind of dancing, I was told during my privates in Thailand to think of it like dancing and to keep the upper body relaxed..I think I was tensing up a bit trying to make sure I got the combinations right.
ttt for boilerbrawn's response
Yes, the humidity and heat almost killed me. We started training as soon as we got into Phuket. That was a mistake. We we warned by Ray Elbe to take it slow the first couple days but I am to fucking stuborn. The first week I threw up at every workout. One of the trainers, Kay, gave me the name oooooaaaach. That is the sound you make when you puke in thailand. To make things worse I also got some mild food poisoning so I really didnt eat anything for about a week. I lost about 8 kilos and was walikng around at 78-79 kilos.
After the first week and a half I started to feel great and started making huge jumps in my Muay Thai skillset. I that video Phatet (sp?) is holding for me. He is a very good teacher. He doesnt put up with bad habits, like droping your hands. Every time my hands came down a little he would smash me in the head with the pads he was holding.
Yeah, I was just having some fun and enjoying the Thai music in the back ground, all the trainers dance around and sing a lot. It kind of funny to hear these guys sing knowing fully that they could split you head open like a cannoe at any moment.
As far as the work out we go for about 2 hrs 2 times a day. We technique spar, hit mits, do bag work, technique drills and of course clinching.
One crazy thing that I did not expect was to gain as much flexability as I have. Im like a foot or less away from being able to do the splits. I think it the heat or the humidity that just makes you loose all the time.
Posty Magee -
Can you talk a little about the concept of play in Muay Thai. My coach has been getting on me lately to play more and i'd like to hear more experienced thai fighters offer persepctive.
Anybody?
Im not 100% sure what you are referring to but I will try to answer this. I may be wrong though. One thing I have noticed here is just that Thai's are just plain tuff. I see them joking around and playing. Well at least it is playing to them. Many of us would not think its to fun though. They will be laughing and kick sparring or kneeing each other in the clinch. Does sound like anything special, but they dont have any protective pads or anything.
So they are kicking each other shin to shin and kneeing each other in the stomach fairly hard and its no big deal to they, not even training. Just fucking around playing. Almost like if we went outside to toss the football back and forth.
Not sure if this answers your question, just something I noticed here.
Jon, Ray,
Seems like you guys have a little time to check the web and what not.....whats Brodie's excuse? :)
