UFC Fighters Who Could Star in a Mortal Kombat Movie

Sorry if there is already a thread on it

Michael Bisping as Kano

Justin Golightly

"The Count" would be the perfect fit for the cybernetic mercenary. And with Kano having already been voiced by several British actors, Bisping would be joining his fellow countrymen to play the part. The costume would come with an infrared eye laser that Bisping could use to beat anyone that has mocked him in the past, thus giving more motivation for him to take the part. Bisping also matches up pretty well with Kano's brash personality and ability to deliver a devastating quip, and he has the acting background to perform the role.

Ronda Rousey as Sonya Blade

As one of the most recognizable faces in women's MMA, it would only make sense to have Ronda Rousey play the leading female character. Sonya Blade has a strong combat background with her time in the military, and can hold her own with anybody. Rousey's Olympic background and successful run in the UFC would compliment the character. Rousey is regarded as a representation of strong women, as is Sonya Blade, and she has the acting chops to pull off the part. Who knew that The Expendables 3 would be training her for this role?

Jon Jones as Shao Kahn

The ultimate bad boy of the sport, Jon Jones is one of the most polarizing people in mixed martial arts. Having been stripped of his title once before and currently facing potential USADA sanctions, he has been ascribed the role of the villain. So, why not embrace it and become one of the most memorable antagonists in video game history? Shao Kahn was an unbeaten and imposing warlord when he first appeared in the series, and Jones has never been beaten in MMA, only losing by DQ once. The skull-clad Kahn would also be a good look for "Bones," and both fighters have a history of taunting their opponents. This should be a no-brainer.

Teruto Ishihara as Liu Kang

One of the newer faces to explode on the UFC scene, Teruto Ishihara could easily play the charismatic Liu Kang. He has two, straight knockout wins in the UFC, and says he only fights to help pick up women. Liu Kang has been motivated by women in the past, especially his love interest, Princess Kitana. I can also vividly see Ishihara transforming into a dragon for Liu Kang's finishing move. Liu Kang has been the main protagonist in many iterations of Mortal Kombat, and Teruto Ishihara can be the hero we need in the Octagon to brighten up our day.

Anthony Johnson as Jax

It's crazy to think that Anthony Johnson used to fight at welterweight. Having bulked back up, and put on plenty of muscle, Rumble is one of the strongest fighters in the sport. His last fight proved that once again, as he knocked Glover Teixeira out cold in 13 seconds at UFC 202. With strength as his defining feature, he is perfect to play Jax. Jax beats down opponents with his two bionic arms, resulting from a wound from his time in the MK series. While originally a defensive character, Jax has shifted to become more of an offensive powerhouse, something that Johnson can relate to. This just seems like a match made in movie/video game heaven.

Carlos Condit as Sub-Zero

One of the most iconic characters from the series combined with one of the best nicknames in MMA? Sign me up for that. The "Natural Born Killer" could become a killer by playing Sub-Zero. Condit knows how to fight in wars, having absolutely amazing fights with Robbie Lawler, Georges St-Pierre, and Nick Diaz. He also looks quite a bit like young Sub-Zero, and with the right makeup could even play the older, wiser fighter. Cool under pressure, NBK could easily wield the frozen powers of Sub-Zero.

Michelle Waterson as Kitana

"The Karate Hottie" can use her background in fighting to land her a role in the upcoming MK movie. The former Invicta Atomweight Champion has found success in the UFC, and won her first fight with the promotion in 2015. While injuries have kept her out of the Octagon since then, Waterson is coming back for a headlining fight against Paige VanZant at UFC on FOX 22. Kitana is also considered a top fighter in the series, and is not a typical damsel in distress. She has the ability to combine skill with raw aggression to finish a fight, a perfect fit for Waterson.

Reptile

It may be because of the name, but dammit, Jacare would make a great Reptile -- his fluid movement in the Octagon and solid ground game make him one of the most dangerous fighters in the UFC. There are two versions of the character that Jacare could pull off, with either a green re-skin of Scorpion or the updated, lizard looking version a feasible choice. It would also give him the chance to finally fight Bisping, at least in a movie.

Brock Lesnar as Goro

Brock Lesnar is a physical specimen. There is no one in the #UFC who matches him, and there are few fighters in MK as physically intimidating as the Shokan Goro. Widely regarded as one of the best video game villains of the 90s, Goro is a fan favorite of the franchise. Lesnar was considered an outsider when he first broke into the UFC from the WWE, and was willing to play up the villain role to hype up a fight. His recent controversy surrounding multiple failed USADA tests also adds into the villain story, making him the correct choice to play such an important character.

Lyoto Machida as Raiden

Machida is one of the most beloved UFC fighters in the promotion's history. He started his career at 16-0, including an eight-fight win streak in the UFC, en route to winning the light heavyweight championship. Now a veteran with nearly 30 fights, Machida can dole out sage advice to any other fighter, making him a perfect candidate for the role of Raiden. As the protector of Earth, Raiden has often given counsel to many of the series' other main protagonists. Machida could use his skillset and experience to pull off the god of thunder.

These were just some of the amazing fighters who could be cast in this movie. With plenty of classic characters left, we could still have a Johnny Cage played by Luke Rockhold, Stephen Thompson, or Sage Northcutt. Robbie Lawler could play Scorpion or Shang Tsung to steal people's souls. There is also the younger generation of characters that have been introduced in the later games, where we could see PVZ or Felice Herrig as Cassie Cage, or Angela Hill or Danielle Taylor as Jacqui Briggs. There are plenty of fighters on the roster to work with, and it would be a mistake for the producers to not consider casting some real fighters

I like the way you think - the UFC should pony up some money and do an extended commercial with their stars in these characters (think of the Anderson Silva commercial where he played different action stars like Bruce Lee and Van Damme and then fought Steven Seagal). This would be a good way to create and push their superstars into the mainstream lime light.

This is amazing, VU.
