And now fighters can only have one, taking away sources of income for them.
Is this hypocritical, or am I reading too much into this?
Let me consult the Fram-cam.
Curious how much, if any, of that will change on the first "official" Reebok card.
Fighters will end up with more sponsors then just reebok. You will end up seeing bud light or a car mfg like ford on the trunks in no time. That will generate more money for the fighters.
If it ain't Dutch, it ain't much - Fighters will end up with more sponsors then just reebok. You will end up seeing bud light or a car mfg like ford on the trunks in no time. That will generate more money for the fighters.
The other sponsor spots don't go to the fighters and you know it, shill.
"Based on the terms of the Reebok deal, the UFC has the ability to showcase one more sponsor on the fighters during their bouts. That revenue will not go to the fighters."
If by 'generate more money for the fighters' you mean generate money for the UFC, which will increase the amount of peanuts they can - but don't have to - throw at their fighters, then of course. But this is also a ridiculous argument.
Let's say you're a whore (which you bascially already are) earning 100 bucks per BJ straight in your purse, who also happens to be a 7 ft tranny not in need of protection.
Tyrone comes along and says customers I organise will pay me 100 bucks minimum, of which I will now pay you 30, BUT I promise to also try and shake them down for more, which I will use to give you an undisclosed bonus if I feel like it. Would you take the deal?
Luckily almost all of us see through Zuffa's, bullshit on this one.
The Reebok sponsorship should be optional
I expect to see a lot of fighters going to Bellator at the ends of their contracts

MAINMAYNARD - The Reebok sponsorship should be optional
Wish this was the case. I'm going to miss the fighter banners and unique fight trunks. It's going to be an end of a era.
clattymine - Let me consult the Fram-cam.While you step into the Harley Davidson Prep Point

TFK_UGCTT_Sk1tzO420 -I don't.

Is this tier thing based on number of fights? So the vets get paid well and people have an incentive to stay so they keep getting paid more? Is that the case or am I way off?
coldworld -Ask RampageBivabiva -Why? If you're a fighter you flow the money.TFK_UGCTT_Sk1tzO420 -I don't.

It just feels like the ufc is trying to squeeze and eek out every last dollar. As a result the enthusiasm, fun, and hype of Mma is drying up.
I just wish they took the stance of growing the sport through an abundance approach. Let gifs be on the Internet. Let highlights be on YouTube. Get rid of fight pass. The more people see the product, the more they will tune in live on fight night.
Limit the amount of shows for the moment. If you stretch the product to thin, it might break. Grow the demand by having less supply.... Again for the time being.

Agreed
I didn't go along with the "MMA is drying up" angle before, but damn, for about a year it seems they have had a short term "squeeze everything you can while it lasts" approach
I don't have a problem with the fighters not having multiple sponsors plastered all over their trunks. I actually like that the UFC is getting away from the NASCAR look.
What I have a HUGE problem with is that the fighters don't get a piece of EVERY sponsor. The athletes in the UFC don't get a fucking dime from Harley Davidson, or Budweiser or whatever crappy movie is being featured in the Octagon that night. In any other sport, the athletes get a piece of everything, not just one sponsor. THAT is where the fighters are getting screwed, not by the Reebok deal. If the Reebok deal was just one of a half-dozen deals that paid the fighters a percentage, things would be fine. But the UFC keeps 100% of the revenue from every sponsor other than Reebok.
they are the ones broadcasting all the ads, so no its not...how many sports allow their athletes to have a ton of sponsors during the event?

gokudamus -they are the ones broadcasting all the ads, so no its not...how many sports allow their athletes to have a ton of sponsors during the event?
All those other sports give their athletes a percentage of the total sponsorship pool, not just one sponsor. They don't need multiple sponsors on their uniforms because they get a piece of EVERYTHING. A portion of every sponsorship deal signed by the NFL/NBA/MLB goes to the athletes.

It's not technically hypocritical, so yeah you're reading too much into that.
The Reebok deal is still absolutely catastrophic though.
