The prelims were chock full of competitive fights. Stout-Tavares, Arantes-Carvalho, and Alcantara-Omigawa (plus the aforementioned Barboza-Etim fight) were more than enough to sate my appetite for competitive, technical matches where the fighters are forced to swim in deep waters.

Etim-Barboza was very competitive on paper, as was Rumble-Vitor before all the weigh-in drama, and Mendes was unquestionably Aldo's toughest career test to date especially after spending the 5th round against Hominick on his back getting lit up & having Kenny Florian pushing him around and landing takedowns.

The number of households watching the free prelims on FX will probably sextuple the number of households who bought the PPV. Free prelims usually draw right around 1.5MM viewers, while this PPV is unlikely to sell more than 250M PPV buys.
