UFC leaning in to “no benefit” narrative

Novitzky and the UFC seem to be leaning in to the whole narrative that these minuscule amounts offer no performance benefit to the fighter, basically discrediting their own test.

So, why are we testing for these long term metabolites then?

Now they’re trying to make us believe that USADA is the one doing the reaching, and not the people coming up with the excuses.

Testing for this stuff in these amounts has been protocol since the beginning. This is why this feels like a double-standard to even reasonable people.

Just because a fighter isn’t UFC-200-Brock-Lesnar-Jacked doesn’t mean they can’t benefit from PED’s during camp. They’re ignoring this fact, it seems.

i cant tell if jones is the dumbest mother fucker on the roster or the smartest. only he could get away with this kind of shit.

If I'm in the UFC right now I start microdosing or whatever Jones is doing, and then sue the absolute fuck out of them if they try to suspend me

Or if they say he already paid his punishment or whatever, then somebody like Tom Lawlor should juice to the fucking gills, make his way back and sue the fuck out of them if he gets popped again

That's what makes doing the additional WADA test a joke.  If they don't find the metabolite, then they can say "See he's clean!  The superior testing shows it's now out of his system".

If they do find turbinol they can say "See, the USADA test was right.  The harmless metabolyte is still there but it's not enough to enhance his performance"

And if the WADA test comes back clean and then shows up again later, they say "See!  He's pulsing, just like we said would happen".

So what's the point of the WADA dog and pony show?

Hard to beleive they set standards for tests but ignore their own standards for some fighters. If they want Jones to headline a card they should have a suitable backup to replace him. Or do the right thing and drop him.

Especially when they knew since at least early December and probably August.  That was plenty of time to line up someone else to fight Gus.

2.1.1 It is each Athlete’s personal duty to ensure that no Prohibited Substance enters his or her body. Athletes are responsible for any Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers found to be present in their Samples. Accordingly, it is not necessary that intent, Fault, negligence or knowing Use on the Athlete’s part be demonstrated in order to establish an Anti-Doping Policy Violation under Article 2.1.

I simply don't understand how they can get around that rule.

That’s pretty damning. Nevada’s reaction is going to be what to watch for at this point.

Jones is either:

1) been taking PEDs in doses so high or regularily that these pulses are the results.

2) been taking them since he was caught before and is now just getting caught again.

The UFC is:

1) Looking to make money.

I don't understand that argument because it seems like it is based on him only taking that same/small of an amount originally/recently, and they are not the remaining degraded levels of a larger amount taken earlier (weeks/months).

Wouldn't the detectable substance, no matter which, be the degraded leftover of the original larger dose?

Of course only the tiny amount that exists now offers no advantage.  That's not the point of why/when he would have taken the substance.  He would have taken it during training to aid stamina, strength and healing.  Don't the rules that exist apply to unfair advantages during training and not just the fight night itself?
