didn't even realize until today that we had a ufc on fox event going on soon.
Shogun vs Vera
Fox main event, coming sometime soon!
After JDS/Cain I thought UFC on Fox was going to be huge. It has sucked, now its pretty much just the level of Spike cards. I guess shouldnt complain cause its still real good fights for free, but I thought they were going to bring huge fights for it. UFC is still on pace for 15-16 PPVs this year, I thought the fox deal would mean they were going to lower that number
When was the last time you got to watch shogun fight on free tv? That's what I thought...
UFC on Fox 3 was a great card! What u talking about?
Shogun and Machida are two of my favourite fighters. I'm psyched for this card.
Diehard fans love all the cards IMO.
SlyStallowned -This isn't even an argument about cards being changed after tickets are sold. So you are arguing a moot point fren.AllAmericanBoxing - When was the last time you got to watch shogun fight on free tv? I'm sure the 19,000 fans who bought tickets to UFC 149 to see Shogun in the co-main event are comforted by your words

Paid for the advertised fights. Did you buy tix? They can be upset if they want. If Shogun was my fav fighter and I solely purchased tickets to 149 to see him and paid for flights, hotel etc I would be a little bit choked as well. <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>
Yeah man that sucks to have fights changed around on people who bought tickets. But I was talking about people who bitch about fox cards when in fact they are putting on really good fights.

Ya i re-read your post after i commented lol. I know what you're saying now

The scale ia not balanced.

Did you really think the UFC would be doing 4 mega shows a year on Fox?
I feel sorry for you if you did, I figured two big shows, meaning title fights or names/contender fights and then two decent shows.
So far, I dont care Cain/JDS cause it wasnt part of the deal but so far we've gotten one big card, Sonnen/Bisping, Rashad/Davis, one good card with lesser names, an upcoming card with SHogun but he is fighting Vera, so lesser names.
So if they come back in Nov with a big card, title fight or big name fights thats 2 big cards, which is exactly what I expected.
2 cards a year should have either title fights or big contender fights/names and two cards should be used to build up other fighters, ie Diaz, Lombard, I know he is off the card now but the plan was to build him up.
So they really are doing exactly what I expected them to do. Dont know why people are thinking every Fox card is gonna be some mega PPV event cause its not.
the Nov and Jan cards are gonna be the big ones for the UFC because they can promote them during the World series and NFL, the May/Aug cards dont have that big push from the world series and NFL so they will be the lesser cards.
So the first 4 FOx events, two big, two small.

Zuffa wants more money.... They gave fox 3 types of cards that pulled 3 types of ratings cain vs jds, evans/davis and Diaz/Miller... Lorenzo is now telling fox the contract you signed pays for diaz/miller and lombard/stann type of main events.
It doesnt hurt Fox per se because it's only 4 time slots a year on a saturday (dead) tv night. The worst UFC card so far pulled 2.5 millon viewers with a 1.2 household rating in the key 18-49 demo. Major league baseball on fox in the same time slot pulled 2.6 million with only a 0.7 rating. NHL on NBC in the same timeslot pulled 2.6 million with only a 0.7 rating. 2 "main stream"' and major sports only pulling a little over half the UFC's rating on their weakest UFC card.

I dont know what I expected, I guess I was just hopeful that the Fox deal would end up lowering the amount of PPVs which I think is at a ridiculous number. I think I ideally there should be less then 10 PPVs a year, 15 is just silly. It makes the sport pretty hard to follow at times. But tehy are making a shit load of money doing it and its their company so what can you say.
And the UFC cant become huge with just 4 fights on fox... let's say each fight pulled cain vs jds numbers and we have these millions of people intrigued who now ant to learn more about the sport and continue to follow it...
Where do they go? do they wait 3 months for the next card? do they stay home on a friday night and watch the abortion called tuf live?
Fox is a great platform to generate new interest into the UFC, but in general not enough to convert that interest into fandom. You need an accessible platform like FX to have consistent weekly content that will convert that interest into fandom.
Tuf live isnt converting anything because a) it's in a horrible time slot and b) it's not a good product.

Last year they did 16 PPV.
This year they are scheduled through Nov with UFC 154.
So if they do one event 155 in Dec thats 14 PPV.
So its less than last year, so thats a good sign.
2013 hopefully they do 12/13 then 10/11.
So its a good sign they will be down in PPV this year.
Counting 154 that would be 12 events. You would figure that they would also do one in October, then they usually have an early December and a NYE. So 15, no real change.

Well it depends if they do two in Dec or not, still its gonna come out right around 14/15 which is less than last year.
