2006 = 5,270,000 total. 527,000 = average
2007 = 4,935,000 total. 449,000 = Average

2009 = 8,020,000 total. 617,000 = Average
2010 = 9,080,000 Total. 605,000 = Average
2011** 3,480,000 (total. 435,000 = Average.
The average PPV sale has gone down 200k this year,
from 2010 and 2009.
Also it looks like total sales will be down as well,
2010 saw 15 PPV's for 9 million sales.
2011 already has half that (8) with 1/3rd in total sales.
Thanks.
ABE FROMAN - Thanks.
You're welcome =)
I figured you contribute to so many great conversations I needed to bring something to the table.
I do find it interesting how this is happening. I wonder if people are getting MMA overload or the money is coming in elsewhere? The UFC are kind of bullies about making the profit and I don't see them coming up short....
poor economy and Brock Lesnar hasnt fought. 2 events with over a million ppv buys ups the average A LOT
Absence of Brock is the reason for this.

Too many events = people not buying every one IMO.
I know I have started pooling with friends to buy events and skipping some events, as I used to just automatically buy every PPV.

Good point about Brock.
I didn't even think of that.
Totals are also interesting.
I wonder if they're concerned about over selling?
8 and 9 million total sales the last two years,
and on par to do 6 million this year, maybe 7.
Going down 2 million units (At 60 dollars a unit) in sales in one year seems like a LOT of loss.
Bellator stepping up?
FenceGrab -I've been going to bars lately more than anything and I'll do the friend thing occasionally. It used to be every PPV with PRIDE/UFC, now I don't want to buy all the PPV's, they aren't all worth that kind of cash.ABE FROMAN - I do find it interesting how this is happening. MartialArtsMixed - Bellator stepping up?
I think Bellator gets fairly low ratings.
Like 200K viewers.
Less than Strikeforce.
I don't know why though, great talent, great show.
I'm not sure about you guys, but I've been ordering PPVs for roughly the past 5 years now and I'm just getting worn-down with paying for events. Great, it makes Zuffa a ton of money in the short run but in the long-run, television is the way to grow the sport. I find myself not getting as excited to see fights knowing that each one comes so damn expensive. If you don't have buddies pitching in to watch the fights, you either have the eat the cost yourself or go to a bar where you end up using enough gas, food and drinks to make the cost about the same anyway. Those of you with friends who chip-in are fortunate, I am the only one who gives enough of a shit in my crew that they would actually pay to watch the fights, everyone else could take it or leave it. For those of us in that position, this model gets old REAL fuckin' quick!
some good points already made by members make up for the downturn
1. no Brock
2. bad economy hurts everyone. especially leisure expense items like the UFC
3. to many events with weak cards
i think these 3 things are all to blame and make up the weak numbers

Same.
I have bought one PPV this year.
3 years ago I was buying every one.

Its crazy to think the average sales are lower than 6 years ago.

I've paid and continue to pay for so many PPV's that some months it's almost like a car payment. I've slowed down quite a bit...

yes that seems a little drastic. but Americans are really hurting the past few years.
And it seems to me a lot of injuries have happened this year that have scrapped a bunch of the main/co main events. I think that really hurts the PPV numbers to. I wonder if this trend continues what the UFc will due to counteract it
Soon we will start hearing that same familiar quote we used to hear when UFC was banned from Cable "Support the sport".
Just remember how much UFC "helped" the fans by raising ticket/PPV prices, creating a quantity of events over quality and did all this while making many millions and doing their best to not pay fighters what they deserved.
I for one am happy to see them loosing steam.
