Okay, here is the deal.... You get to pick your own UFC card to be scheduled on New Year's Eve. Make the assumption that there are no more UFC fights between now and your event. All current UFC fighters are available; forget any injuries, suspensions, current scheduled fights, or TUF show issues.... Create your own UFC Super Bowl card and who you believe wins each fight:
BJ Penn vs. Shawn Sherk (Penn by GNP)
Matt Serra vs. Karo Parisyan (Serra by GNP)
Matt Hughes vs. GSP (GSP by KO)
Anderson Silva vs. Dan Henderson (Silva by TKO)
Rich Franklin vs. Nate Marquardt (Franklin by GNP)
Wanderlei Silva vs. Chuck Lidell (Silva by KO)
Dan Henderson vs. Rashad Evans (Henderson by decision)
Keith Jardine vs. Rampage Jackson (Jackson by GNP)
Andrei Arlovski vs. Gabriel Gonzaga (Gonzaga by KO)
Randy Couture vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (Couture by decision)
I understand your points, but I believe a card like this, a Superbowl type talent gathering, could set every MMA record in history in terms of gate, PPV buys, and fan interest.... besides I though it might be fun to see who other people really are interested in seeing.....
I think Silva is the best striker in the game and sooner or later everyone gets knocked out. I just believe this would be Dan's time.
As for "LOL" at Serra over Karo I would simply ask was it "LOL" when he knocked out GSP? I think Serra's hands are underrated and he would have a chance to KO Karo.
As for Randy and Nog, I think Randy could punish Nog on the ground but after watching Nog/Fedor, I am not sure Randy would have any better luck finishing him. just my opinion....
No way!!!!!! I'm no BJ nuthugger, but he has the grappling advantage against everyone at 155 and damn near everyone at 170. BJ is better on the feet than Sherk as well. A fight I still badly want to see, but I still give the edge to BJ.
After seeing Sherk survive the brutal knees that Franca hit him with, I am starting to think a KO is close to impossible at 155 on him. However, if anyone could do it, it would be BJ. BJ absolutely tooled Hughes with stand up combos and its possible he could get Sherk in a position where he scores a TKO. Just not sure Sherk can be KO'ed unless someone hits him with a perfect bomb right on the button. The guy's chin is insane at 155.
On the topic of Serra/Karo, I actually think Serra would win a rematch. I think he has improved a ton and beating GSP may have given him that last mental boost he needed to truly become dangerous in that division. Just my opinion...
