UFC to go head to head with Bellator 123 in Connecticut on Sept. 5 with Foxwoods event on Fox Sports 1.

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

The UFC has opted not to consider Bellator as competition to date, leaving them to their own devices, with the occasional jab thrown by UFC President Dana White. However, they're stepping things up a notch, and will not only compete head to head on television this September, but for a live audience in the same state.

During the pre-show for "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3" Finale on Fox Sports 2 on Saturday night, it was announced that the UFC is coming to Foxwoods in Connecticut on Sept. 5 for a Friday night event on Fox Sports 1. That puts them just ten miles away from where Bellator has already announced Bellator 123, which will come to the Mohegan Sun that same night to kick off season 11 on Spike TV.

This is the UFC's first trip to Connecticut since October of 2005, when they brought UFC 55 to the Mohegan Sun with Andrei Arlovski against Paul Buentello.

Seems like Bellator's 100k PPV buy has rustled Lorenzo's jimmies.

Not even a fair fight... This I don't agree with. Bellator's ratings are bad enough as is. Uncool Dana uncool.

They might go head to head but from what I've been told, Bellator doesn't really care much about ticket sales at their casino shows right? Don't they get a flat fee from the casino and then the casino gives the tickets away or something like that? Phone Post 3.0

So there's a good possibility the audience will consist of 80% Vietnamese Pai Gow players, 10% senior citizens who took a day trip on a charter bus, and 10% Bellator fans?

Sept 5th?

Happy birthday to me. Phone Post 3.0

This is an unprecedented opportunity for a UG'r to appear simultaneously at a Bellator and UFC event.

I'd also imagine some smokers with oxygen tanks thrown in there too. Phone Post 3.0

I bet mohegun sun cares.    There's a few things going on here... it's foxwoods giving the finger to mohegun sun, it's zuffa letting bellators casino partners know their investment can turn to shit, and then there's bellators season premiere on television which is gonna get bitch slapped.

This is awesome. Easy to make money gambling on MMA when there are two events to bet on!!!!!! Phone Post 3.0

At least Bellator has Zuffa scrambling. Let the games begin.

Subtlety is not your strong suit.

I'm more enthusiastic about supporting Bellator than UFC at this point.
