UFC has put on 19 shows this year so far, by the end of October, they will have 23 shows locked in. Compare those numbers to Florida's MMA promoters. When you combine the events of all six (6) Florida MMA companies - it STILL doesn't add up to the amount of events the UFC is putting out.
2012 Florida MMA Shows:
Art Of Fighting - 1 show this year
CFA-4 shows this year with 1 pending
Fight Time - 5 shows this year
RFC - 3 shows with 1 pending
WEF - 1 show this year
XFC - 4 shows out of state / 7 florida fighters participated
TOTAL PRO-MMA Fights this Year - 16 shows in Florida / 20 shows with all Florida based MMA Promoters.
With 16 shows throughout the ENTIRE State of Florida - I ask, How can Florida build a strong fan base? South Florida alone ( CFA & Fight Time) pulls in 10 of the 16 shows this year.
Should ONE Florida Promoter try to to put on more than 23 shows a year like the UFC? Will it kill the sport here in Florida? Can the MMA fans afford more shows?
On June 8th, 2012 the UFC had 6,000 TRUE FANS at the Bank Atlantic in Sunrise Florida. Combine CFA and Fight Time fans and it averages about 5,000 mma fans. Leaving only 1,000 fans that came from the surrounding cities. Why aren't those 1000 fans traveling to see their local MMA events?
How could the UFC have more fans in attendance when the UFC hasn't been back in Florida since the 90's. People complained that the UFC didn't have a good card and that you could have watched it for FREE on Fox - YET THEY STILL MANAGE TO BRING IN 6000 fans - MORE FANS THEN 2 SOUTH FLORIDA MMA EVENTS COMBINED!!
Is CFA and Fight Time delusional in thinking that there are more MMA fans to win over or do they have it right? and know that there is no true market when it comes to MMA, so they only do 5 shows a year. In order not to waste money on the Florida MMA market thats truly not there.

Ammy fighting has taken over the sport here in Florida. I understand that everyone needs to start somewhere but promoters are taking advantage charging $25-$40 for Ammy cards and are making lots of money since they don't have to pay the fighters. Why would anyone want to put on pro shows 
Your right…the amount of amateur mma shows in Florida have increased by 80%, while the Pro Shows have decreased by 50% for the year of 2012.
But in making Amateur fights, you don't give a TRUE MMA experience, being that you Don't have a quality venue. You either wind up at a club that has no space and is not made for a cage, so then they result in putting in a boxing ring, which takes away from the mma experience.
Or there fortunate enough to get a Gym or a YMCA and put a cage, but then they lack in Production - its too dark, seating is unorganized and more…leaving a bad experience for the people who are seeing MMA for the first time. Then theres the issue of the FIGHTERS, some don't even show up for the weigh ins, since there is no contract, they decide they are NOT showing up, and those that do, have yet to have the "IT" factor to amaze the crowd…Why? BECAUSE THEIR AMATEURS.
So in essence does Amateur MMA help the sport, or does it just help the venue owner who knows he will only make money on the liquor because the whole event is a financial loss for him. Thats why you see Mma shows at clubs on a wednesday or a thursday because that the slowest days of the week for the club venue..and having anything that day is better then nothing. TIME!!!!!!

South Florida has always been a some what shitty sports town. There is so much to do on a Friday or Saturday night, that spending 50-100 to watch dudes bloody each other up only sounds good to hard core fans.
In Nebraska they could hold fights every night of the week and sell out because there's nothing else to do. Except maybe watching corn grow.
It's an issue of demographics unfortunately.
I think they are fucking things up by saturating everything. Remember when the AFC shows were going on? So many bad ass fighters and man I always looked forward to them. I don't mean any disrespect, but you go to shows now, and there are SO MANY guys that have no business even being in there. On top of that, I'm supposed to pay $40 to watch them? $80 for the GF and I? AND..do that on a regular basis? No thanks. I get suckered in a lot as I'll have random friends on the card, that I want to support, but overall it's sure not worth it!
If they are going to water down the Mma market, they should really adjust the prices accordingly. I think that would be a fair trade off. Maybe a top notch event like CFA for $20 a ticket, and $10 or so for ammy events. Something along those lines.
