This is inspired by the 'cities you can't imagine stepping foot in' thread.
Last year I had to go to Lexington, KY for work and had very low expectations. But when I got there I had a great time. The downtown was fun, the food was good, the bourbon was obviously nice, people were friendly, etc.
I'd be happy to go back anytime
When I saw the thread title I thought of Lexington. Appalachia is underappreciated. Knoxville is also good.

I'm almost 50.
Nobody gave a fuck about Nashville until recently,
Was pleasantly surprised by both Boise and Memphis.
Agree with Greenville SC and Lexington.
Biggest surprise city I've ever been to was Milwaukee. Had zero expectations and had a blast.

Downtown is really cool. The track area is too. Outside of that it's kinda shitty.
Lots of cool history with the mafia and baseball stuff though.
