I might be attending summer school in Hawaii. Does anyone have experience with the dorm rooms on campus or at the ymca? Or have any recommendations for student (cheap housing near the campus)?
I've looked up places to train near the campus and found : island Bjj, relson (RSA), alliance, and magrinho bjj. If anyone has trained at these schools could give a quick review of them that would be great, or any other school in Oahu.
I'm a brown belt and prefer training in the gi.

Campus dorms are OK but very expensive. A few of em are also "dry" but people drink anyway. Hopefully you get lucky and find something in Manoa, Kaimuki, or even Makiki, which are towns near UH. There might be openings due to people going home for the summer.
I trained at RSA a long time ago and there's some really good guys. Ronn is also a really nice guy. There are a couple schools on University and King but I've never trained there. Good luck!

RSA all day. Hit up craigslist for alternate places. I'd stay in Waikiki and just slay Asian fob's, but to each his own.
Save money. Sleep on my lanai for 500

I had my kid signed up for swimming lessons there one summer and I unfortunately had to walk through the shower area to the change-rooms once...ONCE.
Ho-lee-FUCK I wanted to brutally murder every single person in there somehow without getting myself covered in AIDS blood.
This was broad daylight mind you...grown men just standing around naked in the showers all day staring at everyone who walks through and touching themselves, trying to find the 10th homo sex partner of the afternoon.
There is simply nothing more disgusting than these motherfuckers, and it's not like everyone doesn't have internet nowadays and they can't all coordinate and gather privately and do whatever the fuck they want, but instead they always gotta be doing in out in public like the sick fucks they are. And like I said, just feet away is a pool full of kids and moms etc...
I wish I had a few flash-bang grenades.
However yes, DO go to RSA where they are all swell fellas and there is no homo action going on in the showers.
