I noticed USKBA posted a brief bio on Vladimir Borodine (event coordinator), but little information regarding the tournament itself, especially since it is the only tournament component with an "under construction" webpage.
I'm curious if there will be a novice division and an advanced similar to the 2003 event?
Also, the 2004 event is now simply a National tournament? I thought this was a World Amateur event?
This happened with 2003 also. Sanda fighters got to compete for the North American titles, while muay Thai fought for the East Coast "Battlegrounds"/USKBA Action Sports titles...which is still confusing. Were the winners national champs and east coast or are these mutually exclusive?
pisand... this is how the Tournament works... The entire weekend is hosted and sanctioned by USKBA ACTION SPORTS. Each individual action sport is considered a 'tournament'. Each 'tournament' has a Coordinator (promoter). Each Coordinator is responsible for their respective 'tournaments' and decides the name and level of their 'tournament'. This year, Steve Ventura and David Ross are the San Da Coordinators, Vladimir Borodine is the Thaiboxing Coordinator, Stephen Koepfer is the Freestyle Sambo Coordinator and Tommy Bottone is the Full Contact Kickboxing and Continuous Contact Coordinator. The winners of each division within each 'tournament' is the declared the 2004 Champion for that particular action sport. The winners in 2003 will be invited back to compete in this year's tournament. If any byes are issued, those winners will receive them. In addition to the 'tournaments' there will be a SuperShow at night. On the SuperShow, we will have competitors going for World Titles and International Titles and possible other titles. Each Tournament Coordinator is responsible for the bouts on the SuperShow. We have begun posting Rules and Regulations and Registration Forms for each tournament. They can be found on the USKBA ACTION SPORTS Website at www.uskba.com. As more information becomes available, it will be posted there too.The entire event is being called the 2004 USKBA ACTION SPORTS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS due to the fact that we have many teams from many countries that want to compete.
USKBA --
Thank you for answering my questions. If we were in fact a 2003 winner, will you be sending out the invitation to compete or do I need to contact you?
Since last year's event was done by a different promoter, you would probably be safer to contact USKBA directly, either go to the web page at www.USKBA.com or email tournament@uskba.com
all the stuff is going up rapidly on the web page
The individual invitations for our 2004 Tournaments, to all winners of all tournaments associated with our 2003 Tournament event, should be ready for mailing by the third week of April 2004. We had a paperwork issue that should be worked out by then.
As lkfmdc pointed out, at this time we are updating our website with additional 2004 Tournament information on a daily basis. I know that Vladimir Borodine is working today on his summary of rules for the Thaiboxing Tournament. We should have it posted within a couple of days.
